For people who don't like Dr. Phil - a question

After the special he did exploiting the little boy (Does your child have what it takes to be a serial killer, or some crap like that), I can't stand him. Don't get me wrong; the parents were morons for even putting their child on TV, but the least Dr. Phil could have done was to black out the kid's face and change his name. After telling the parents the kid exhibited 7 out of 10 characteristics of kids who grow up to be serial killers, he has virtually guaranteed that's what the kid will be. Can you imagine that child having to go back to school now and face his classmates? What about his classmates parents? Do you think they will let their kids play with him? The kid will have no semblance of normal life.

He may have decent advice, but he's a self serving moron.

Jipsy,
I saw this episode too and I was just shocked!!!:earseek: I could not believe that he said these things about this CHILD!!! It was just wrong - I am sure this child will never forget it and live up to it.:(

Did you ever notice when they leave the stage together, Phil takes his long purposeful strides and Robin runs along side him, like a Shih Tzu trying to keep up?

I would scream at my husband to slow the heck down.

In season 2, I think--they had a Viewer Q & A...and this question was addressed...he claims (she agreed)--whether or not it is true, we just won't know unless we get them on lie detector...

That she's the speedy one and he's keeping up with her--but b/c of the size difference, it looks the other way around. After the show and all others I am guessing--they still leave the same way.

As a runner--I have short legs--and to some I might be moving quickly or trying to keep up b/c of the number of steps I take to keep my pace--but for me and a long legged runner to run the same pace...long legs could be slower than me and struggling to keep up, but it looks like I'm the one running on the hamster wheel to keep up since I take more steps--when it just isn't the case--so their claim can be true.

I think it is weird that she attends every show. I wonder if she is on payroll. I mean--does she really want to be there if she is in such a hurry to leave?

I can't stand Dr. Phill I find him horribly smug. I also think it is wrong for him to use his family as relationship experts when they have no training. I think he is tougher on people who are overweight than those who are anorexic.

Maybe, but it looks to me like she's always trailing behind, and he looks like he's sprinting to the bathroom, which is a possibility.

I think Dr. Phil and Dr. Laura are similar in some ways. They have similar styles. They are abrasive because they need to be. Where do these people come from and why would they go on these shows knowing the views and opinions of the hosts?

We no longer get Dr. Laura on the radio around here but I did enjoy listening to some of her show. When she would get all high and mighty I just turned it off. But, being a SAHM, it was nice to get all that back patting and confirmation of my choices. She didn't make my decisions but it was nice to have a little cheerleader sometimes - goodness knows it doesn't come from many other places!

Dr. Phil is the same for me. Sometimes I watch, sometimes he makes me want to throw things at the TV. It's on at a really bad time for me so I hardly catch it at all but when I do, it's hit or miss.

I'm not sure, I'm always so heartbroken for the families. I want to know if they get the help they need. There is no way that they can go home and fix things on their own with the 15 minutes of common sense that Dr Phil has fed to them, especially the poor little boy "serial killer" and his mom. I've heard that he continues to work with them after the shows, but I'd love to hear proof of this and see their amazing improvements, but if it's only for entertainment, then I find him, well I won't say, lol!

The few times I've watched Dr. Phil, he's annoyed me -- he seems very patronizing. It's not that his advice is bad, it's that it's so obvious, and he acts like he invented the wheel.

I also wondered about his weight loss book. Seems to me Dr. Phil could stand to lose a few pounds himself.
