I am trying to decide whether or not to buy an AP. If I get one, I would also get DDE. I am trying to decide if I will save $50 or more with DDE. How much do you think we will spend eating at the following restaurants:
Jiko
Artist Point
CRT (lunch)
Rose & Crown (dinner)
Cape May Cafe (dinner)

We are 2 adults, not drinkers (hubby may order 1 glass of wine whole trip). We may get either an appetizer or dessert at each meal, but may not.

I calculated we would need to spend $250 to break even with the DDE card. Will we do this? Is it worth it?

Also, can you order a DDE card with an AP voucher or do you need an active AP?

I would go to allearset.com and check out the menus for the restaurants you are considering so you can better ballpark your expenses. You're correct, $250 is when the savings start kicking in.

You most likely will save some. Not a bundle. But enough to notice. Esp if you buy dessert.
We are two adults, don't order alcoholic beverages, and usually no dessert or appetizer.
Rose & Crown was probably our cheapest sit down meal ever in Epcot and that saved us probably even $7 there.
A 20% discount at Jiko and AP would help considerably.

Jiko--Plan on spending minimum $60 before tax and tip.
Artist Point--Plan on spending minimum $60 before tax and tip.
CRT (lunch)--Plan on lunch running $40 befors tax and tip
Rose & Crown (dinner)--Plan on dinner running $45 before tax and tip.
Cape May Cafe (dinner)--Plan on dinner running $45 before tax and tip.

This is if you order two averaged priced meals and one appetizer or dessert to share. In all honesty I think that for the first two that's a lowball figure.

So you're right at the $250 range. Do you think you'll be back before a year is up?

Note that any tipping should be at the pre-discounted price. Also, in addition to the 20% discount, the Sales Tax is computed after the discount is taken. Therefore, if your meals come to $250, the actual savings will be $53.25.

If you are eating at one of the value resorts or POFQ (which do not have a sit-down restaurant) food courts you can also use the DDE discount for all meals.

Of course, if you decide to really splurge, you will save over $40 (including reduction of tax) for dinner for two at Victoria and Albert's.
