I learned something new about my DH today (also explains his Mom's day fiasco). My friend who is stationed in Japan is visiting for 2 weeks and we are giving him a party. We looked at the calendar and saw we only have Jun 21 or 28 available.

I said, well, the 21st is Father's Day so we'll have to do it Jun 28th.

And DH says (and I quote), "Father's Day doesn't mean anything to me so we can do 21st"

Now I know it's an 'I'm not buying into the Hallmark hype thing' but still...

And now I'm wondering if I should even give him the Father's Day gift DD3 and I worked on over the last week (as seen in my TR)...definitely makes me glad I decided not to get him money for his camera lens...

Probably how he meant it, hallmark thing, but I could see how that would have hurt your feelings a bit

I would still give him that present....Sure he will love it :lovestruc

You are good! And I watched Wipeout tonight -- very funny!

Oooh what are you making? Don't forget a picture!!

I went and bought some nice scrapbook paper and I am making him apage with our kids with pictures of them that they are going to pose for and take of each other. Goodness only knows what to expect and I let them pick stickers for the page. I know that this is my forst page so don't expect miracles.

Men are dense sometimes. I learned early on that Scotty was not going to remember to do anything unless he was beat over the head. I never expect anything but he always does something sweet at the last minute and that's all I can ask.

Scotty and Loren love it. I am kind of lukewarm about it.

Yeah me too. But the kids squealing with laughter everytime somebody falls or gets hit -- makes me laugh.

Hey Jamie! How have you been? I've missed you around here? I hope you are now back for a while to stay!

I've been great QM. How are you? I should be around to stay ! :thumbsup2

Ugh. Men can be so dense sometimes. Ok...you're not that into it, but maybe it means something to me. I say give him the present. He will love it, I'm sure and maybe he will see the error of his ways. I try not to make it into a "Hallmark" thing. I look at it as a day to try and make up for the fact that we might take our Dad's for granted the rest of the year (same thing on Mother's Day).

A show on ABC I think it based on Japanese game shows where people go through obstacles.

oh okay, I had asked if it was that Japanese show once a while back and I don’t think anyone answered me (or I missed the answer)

That is awesome Cheri. I've been wanting one of those and we are trying to find a bigger one but for that price I would have gone for the 8". Good find Mike! And, for the remote to go ahead and be in the box and only in need of a small battery, you two did grrrrrreat! :thumbsup2

I’d LOVE to get a bigger one for the wall but that probably won’t happen for a while as they are VERY expensive.

Yeah, I hope that’s all it needs. Mike said that’s what it seems like. Now if we can get over to Walmart and get out shopping done we can get a battery :rolleyes1

If it doesn’t work then at least we still can use the touchscreen to do everything.

In case I ever get one of those, do you stick a memory card in there or do you download pictures to it? I am curious how it works.

usually you stick a memory card in there, but some of the frames have internal memory (which ups the price of course). Ours has 1 gb of memory, but we’ll still use a memory card so we can have more pics on there. (I’m honestly not quite sure how many pics the frame itself would hold…don’t know what 1 gb equals picture-wise.

Oh DEFINITELY give it to him. I think he might take back his statement when you do!

morning!!!!

Hot enough for you Cher?

LOL I actually welcome the heat b/c of how FREEZING it is in the office! (that's not really an angel in this circumstance--it's the closest I could get to a cold smilie...just pretend it's got an icicle growing on its head! :rotfl:)

oh and we are going to Blue Bayou next Friday so I'm hoping we get weather like this. Will make the water feel so good!

Hey do you go there often? We were going to go in July but we heard such horror stories (dirty, understaffed, overcrowded) that we opted to go to Gulf Islands instead. How is it?

No, haven't been in ages (a few years really ) I have never been to the Dixie Landings side so looking forward to it. Mostly I'm looking forward to the newer rides at Blue Bayou because I heard they are really fun! And I love me some water rides when it's really hot out. :thumbsup2

I have heard some horror stories too but it's the closest thing and my cousin asked if I wanted to go, so I'm looking forward to having a good time...will make the best of it. Since we are going on a Friday it should not be too crowded. She said she went last summer on a Friday and it was not bad at all. I'm hoping Father's Day being that weekend won't make a difference that Friday. (I don't think people really take vacation on Father's Day weekend like they do other holidays, ie. Memorial Day which I heard was crowded at BB that Friday)

I would like to visit Gulf Island one day...never been. Have you been before? How would you rate it?

The one I want to visit most is Schlitterbahn in San Antonio, TX!!! I WILL make it there one day. :yay:

We went to Blue Bayou in 2002 but it was also during the week. Plus we had a two year old. It was nice but we didn't hit any really big rides and you are also talking Pre-Katrina (aren't you tired of saying that?). I would think it would be much slower on a Friday. Please let me know how it goes.

Gulf Island is much smaller. Not as many big rides but the kiddie area is awesome and very easy to keep an eye on the kids. I like it over all but I don't think you can compare it to Blue Bayou because it is two different experiences. I think Gulf Islands is much more laid back.

OMG I sooooo want to go to Schlitterbahn! I saw that years ago and we have got to go there. It looks awesome!:thumbsup2

I will let you know :)

oh okay, it looked smaller by looking at their website. And they don't have a regular (dry) amusement park do they?

I have heard it is WAY awesome! Also I heard it takes 2 days to experience. There is a chlorinated water side and a fresh(river?) water side.
