General Wes Clark's response to Rudy's comments.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Gen. Wesley Clark (news - web sites) issued the following statement today:

"For President Bush to send Rudolph Giuliani out on television to say that the 'actual responsibility' for the failure to secure explosives lies with the troops is insulting and cowardly. "The President approved the mission and the priorities. Civilian leaders tell military leaders what to do. The military follows those orders and gets the job done. This was a failure of civilian leadership, first in not telling the troops to secure explosives and other dangerous materials, and second for not providing sufficient troops and sufficient equipment for troops to do the job. "President Bush sent our troops to war without sufficient body armor, without a sound plan and without sufficient forces to accomplish the mission. Our troops are performing a difficult mission with skill, bravery and determination. They deserve a commander in chief who supports them and understands that the buck stops in the Oval Office, not one who gets weak knees and shifts blame for his mistakes." ---
Bush is simply unfit to be president.

Question for you guys. I'm trying to understand the Republican point of view. They want to keep all their money and not have the government tell them how to spend it right? They don't think the government has any business telling them what to do with their money.

But they want the government to be able to tell people who they can and cannot marry. And I'm not talking anything illegal and disgusting like pedophiles - but two intelligent and consenting adults.

Is that kind of hypocritical?

Didn't really want to crash this or the Bush supporter thread, since I don't really qualify as either. That said, the above things are precisely the reason I no longer consider myself a Republican. I don't want the government involved in any of those decisions. I'll be voting for George W. Bush, but I'm not thrilled about it because of his support for government intrusion in a lot of areas that I consider private.

On those political spectrum tests that occasionally get posted, I come out as a right-leaning libertarian.

On a side note, I'd just like to say that regardless of who wins next week, I hope we can all bear in mind that we've got a lot more in common than many of these political threads would lead us to believe. John Kerry or George W. Bush getting elected will not spell the end of civilization ;)

Good luck and may the best candidate win :) Either way, the winner will be *my* president for the next four years.

Great statement by Senator Edwards responding to Rudy G

DULUTH, Minn., Oct. 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Senator John Edwards issued the following statement today about George Bush's chief surrogates blaming the troops for missing explosives in Iraq:

"Today, George Bush sent his chief surrogate, Rudy Giuliani, out to defend the president's incompetence. And Giuliani blamed the troops. He said they didn't do their jobs. The Republicans couldn't be more wrong.

"Our men and women in uniform did their jobs. It's our commander-in-chief, George Bush, who didn't do his.

"If George Bush is going to have his friends out there blaming the troops, then he needs to back up his claims with evidence. Mr. President, show America the order that you issued for our troops to secure these dangerous explosives. Show us the order that your friends accuse our troops of ignoring.

"George Bush refuses to step up and take responsibility -- and now it's time for him to step aside."

This morning, Giuliani said, "The actual responsibility for it really would be for the troops that were there. Did they search carefully enough? Didn't they search carefully enough?"
Bush is unfit to be president

Far be it from me to defend a Bu$hie, but I thought Dmadman was refering to Giullianni and not the poster. Could be wrong, but I think he was agreeing with us.

I went back and read it, and I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Apologies to dmadman if I jumped to conclusions. I'm just used to the name calling by some on the right, but not necessarily you.

Hi all:wave2: Just checking back in with this thread...I've had a really hectic work week (I'm tired of talking and I KNOW people are tired to listening to me;) ). So instead, I'll talk to you guys now.:D

My mom just sent me this link:

Give W a Brain
http://www.imgag.com/product/full/ap/3067907/graphic1.swf

It's probably been posted already, but it make me giggle.

Also I voted yesterday. Straight Democratic Ticket. What can I say...I'm a party girl! Plus I voted for lightrail here in Austin...good environmental initiative.

Did I miss any brownie/noodle/underwear announcements?;)

Keep the faith, and peace out!

Okay, like-minded, party people, and some not so like-minded (Dmadman) we must wait until FIK is well enough to have our meet!:D

Oh yeah, I will need a ride to Jupiter, to stay with my friends. Jupiter, FL that is! ;) :sunny:

For those who need a good chuckle, check out www.bettybowers.com

It's complete satire and I have to say I get a laugh at her newsletters. My uncle , the "free ranger", got all pissy when i forwarded one of her newsletters to him. He thought she was real

jrydberg - Funny I come up as a right-leaning libertarian as well. I would probably vote for Bush except for the fact that if re-elected he will be in the position to choose federal judges. And I do not want judges selected that will put their religion and politics ahead of the constitution. The judges choosen will have a greater impact then any other decision the President could make in the next 4 years.

Folks - I have a question - Please don't flame me.

Why did I get a flyer from the Democratic party when I am registered as an Independent??

On top of that - the way it was addressed to me is how my name is listed for school - not on my voter registration.

just a little curious to see how the democratic party runs it's publications.

thanks.

I'm not really sure but I get political mail and phone calls from both sides. I even got a call on my cell from one, a recording. I have no idea how they get our info.? :D

Your cat is really cute! What type is it? I like the blue eyes.:D

minnie

my kitty is a Flame Point Siamese & has the temper to go with it.

The reason why I asked about the flyer is I know they got it from my college - what upsets me is that I have a privacy block on all of my information. That means it can't be shared with anyone without my written permission, which I have not given to anyone.

*shrug* I get stuff from the GOP all of the time and I'm a registered Democrat.

Hello all. :)

Hey, this meet sounds interesting. WDW seems like a good place to celebrate. :teeth:

Hey....I just thought of a fun game to play...a pool based on Electoral College Votes. Closest one without going over to guess how many votes Kerry gets is the winner. I guess the prize would be bragging rights. I thought of it so I'm going first (Nyah, Nyah, Nyah ...LOL) ...I say......drum roll........330.

No it's not too high!

Kerry wins with a walk off home run!

I'll play - my guess is 289. Close but enough to not leave doubt of the winner.

As for a meet - I'm in there too... if I can get past the guilt of spending more money on WDW when I'm not working.

Put me down for 333, although 330 was a damned good guess. It took me a while to figure out how you got to 330 when I got to 333, but I see now, and I suspect you may be right. But what the heck, I am having a good month, so why not shoot for the 333?

As to the meet...I am no longer working, and they have great flights that leave here, so give me time to get back on track and I am so there ! In fact, it will give me a reason to get an annual pass. I have already decided I am going to take my daughter ( the donor ) on a Disney vacation next spring. So why not two trips? And then, once I have the pass...well, it just makes sense to return with my husband later in the year right? do you see how my mind works? LOL

There aren't any Kerry bashing threads on the front page. What is going on???:p

edited two seconds later: oh, well
