I was lucky enough to catch President Clinton's speech on tv today. God, I love that man!!! :D
Did you hear when Kerry asked if he thought he and Bush had anything in common, Clinton said "In eight days and twelve hours we'll both be former presidents."::yes::

There may be no answer to this but since I'm among liberal friends, I'll ask...

How can so many seemingly intelligent, well read and obviously patriotic people support the line of crap offered by this administration, defend it hook line and sinker, and not see how illogical it all is?pirate:

I just got back from MNSSHP and it was nice to see this thread just keeps on going and going and going...........

I can only think of 2 possible reasons: fear and rabid partisanship. We've entered into a place where logic just doesn't come into play.

My favorite Republican line is how liberals are always following their feelings and conservatives are logical. LOL.

I'm a firm believer that one of the biggest problems with this country today is that failure is rewarded while success is punished, and I think that's exactly opposite of how things should be.

That's a line straight out of Rush Limbaugh and it was a crock then and it's a crock now. Kindly spell out how the US stifles achievement, success, hard work. etc.

This line in and of itself give creedence to what Pirate said about logic and Bush supporters.

Just wanted to post here to say that I posted something on the Bush site...yikes...scarry over there. I cant belive how nasty they are getting about Kerry. Anyway, to the main question of this thread, what will I being doing when they make the announcement that Kerry has won.....the dance of joy of course..

Kerry and Edwards...

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age she considered herself a very liberal Democrat and had grown to be in strong favor of the re-distribution of all wealth in America. She felt deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative, which she expressed openly. One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to higher taxes on the rich & more welfare programs. In the middle of her heart-felt diatribe based upon the lectures she had from her far-left professors at her school, he stopped her and asked her point-blank how she was doing in school.

She answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA and let him know that it was tough to maintain. She had to study all the time and never had time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of spending all her time studying a more difficult curriculum.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Mary?"

She replied, "Mary is barely getting by", she continued, "she barely has a 2.0 GPA," adding, "and all she takes are easy classes and she never studies." Mary is so popular on campus, college for her is a blast, and she goes to all the parties all the time and very often doesn't even show up for classes because she is too hung over."

Her father then asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your 4.0 GPA and give it to Mary who only had a 2.0?" He continued, "That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair, equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter, visibly shocked by the father's suggestion, angrily
fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I worked really hard for mine, I
did without and Mary has done little or nothing -- she played while I worked really hard!"

The father slowly smiled and said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Wow. I may for the first time use my ignore button.

Troll.

Let's see how long it takes for those posts to disappear from the front page.

OK, since no one answered my obtuse reference to an Eagles song.....

Sing along with me!

Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses?
You been out ridin’ fences for so long now
Oh, you’re a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin’ you
Can hurt you somehow

Don’ you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She’ll beat you if she’s able
You know the queen of heats is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can’t get

Desperado, oh, you ain’t gettin’ no youger
Your pain and your hunger, they’re drivin’ you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that’s just some people talkin’
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don’t your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won’t snow and the sun won’t shine
It’s hard to tell the night time from the day
You’re loosin’ all your highs and lows
Ain’t it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin’, but there’s a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it’s too late

I feel better now. Let me see....where is that ignore button?

"A young woman was about to finish her first year of college...."

That has got to be the stupidest story I've ever read. I literally feel as though my IQ dropped as I was reading it. Equating the accumlation of money with the accumulation of education and then wrapping it up in a little Republican bow- how sweet:rolleyes: I especially love the paternal, all-knowing voice of authority "enlightening" the liberal daughter with his "wisdom." Gendering the party system, perhaps? Of course, my favorite is the gesture toward the "far-left professors" at the university. I so love encountering this type of garbage on the Kerry thread.
