I am STEAMING MAD right now. I hadn't opened the front curtains or been out the front door this morning so didn't know that our yard had been vandalized AGAIN. This time the Veterans for Kerry signs were torn down OFF THE HOUSE and Isabella's pumpkin has been stolen! Kids you say? Perhaps! But the yards on both sides of ours were left alone (they have whole Halloween displays AND Bush signs).

Isabella is so upset. How can I explain to a six year old that someone hates my politics and so they took the pumpkin she so carefully chose on her trip to the pumpkin patch with her Brownie troop? Here it is Halloween morning and we have to find a new pumpkin and get it carved so Halloween won't be ruined for a first grader. This little town is overwhelmingly fundamentalist and pro-Bush. I still find it hard to believe that this kind of behavior is acceptable!

That makes me mad too.:( Can you report that somewhere? I wonder if any of your neighbors saw anything?

Thats so weird I drive through all different types of neighborhoods around here and I still haven't been harassed. I have several very pro-liberal stickers on the car.

Okay go out and put up an even bigger "Kerry" sign.:earseek:

Are your neighbors a bunch of red-necks? Is the neighborhood ethnically diverse?

I think it is happening on both sides:

My prayers are with Chris, Justin, and others who are serving in Iraq. I pray that God will bring them home safely.

Thanks to all of you who are volunteering to be poll checkers. I've done some volunteer work in Missouri, and I just found out my husband doesn't have to work Tues. so I may volunteer or have him volunteer since he's a lawyer. A volunteer friend of mine went to the campaign headquarters Saturday to pass out literature and they had 10 times the number of volunteers than they expected. They also have more volunteers than they need on Tuesday.

Here is a link to voter rights information. It has links to specific battleground states:

Bobbles--Welcome!! I'm so glad to hear you are a Kerry supporter. You will find a lot of healthy discussion on this thread, and it's easy to ignore the few gnats who are trying to stir up trouble.

Thank you. Your words and prayers are appreciated.

Dear Larry,

Last Thursday I put out one of my Bush/Cheney signs in my front yard. Between midnight and 3:00 a.m. someone stole it. On Friday night I put out sign No. 2. Since I didn't have to get up early, I thought my dog and I would "stake out" our sign. This time I put the sign a little closer to the gate leading to my backyard. With my dog on an extra long leash, I planted myself on a lawn chair and read "Unfit for Command" by flashlight until about 1:00 a.m. Here comes the fun part . . . I noticed that the car coming down the street was slowing down and pulling over to the curb right next to my yard. Sure enough, he gets out of his car and heads right for my sign. Just as he was about to uproot and desecrate it, I opened my gate and let my dog make the initial introduction! As he ran to hide behind the rear end of his car, I promptly moved to the driver-side door, which was still open. It was a fairly nice car with power everything and still running. While my dog continued to "introduce" herself, I rolled up the window and hit the power door lock button. With that, I slammed the door, grabbed my Bush sign and headed into the back yard.

And now for the "rest of the story." About 40 minutes later, I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door to one of our city's finest . . . the Vancouver Police Department. The officer asked me what was going on and when I told him, he could not stop laughing! I followed him out to the perp's car and stood there while he asked the guy a few more questions. Upon learning that the guy lived a couple of streets down, I -- knowing what was about to happen -- asked him, "Why do you have Oregon plates on your car if you live just down the street (here in Vancouver, Wash.)?" Larry, Oregon has no sales tax, so often Washington residents will buy and register cars in Oregon to avoid paying sales tax . . . it's a crime and the fine is pretty stiff. Here comes the best part. . . . The look on this guy's face told me he knew he was about to get busted. When the officer asked for his license and registration, the "Democrat" mumbled that (his license) was suspended. Just for kicks and giggles I asked the officer if he smelled any alcohol coming from the guy! The officer looked at me, smiled and promptly gave him a field breathalyzer test. Guess what? You got it, he blew a .10, legally drunk in the state of Washington.

DUI, illegal registration and the brand of "MORON," all 'cause he hates Bush!

Sincerely,

John

Desperado- I had to look, it's train wreck time!;) I'm sure that it does happen to both sides.

So, what is your other name on here? Come on, people always tell me everything. You can pm me with the info. I really am curious. Isn't it hard to keep it a secret?:D :sunny:

Crazy for Goofy--I am so, so sad about the vandalism. I hope you and Isabella are able to get some new pumpkins. Definitely file a police report about this. I know nothing will happen, but it would be good to have it on record in case there's further trouble.

Good morning fellow Kerry supporters. Hope you are all feeling fine and full of confidence this morning. Here is a bit of good news. Someone has finally polled young cell phone users.

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=919

"Young Mobile Voters Pick Kerry Over Bush, 55% to 40%, Rock the Vote/Zogby Poll Reveals: National Text-Message Poll Breaks New Ground"

and even better

"The poll also found that only 2.3% of 18-29 year-old respondents said they did not plan to vote, and another .5% who were not sure if they would."

I'm so glad to hear these results. That could make a big difference in the results. Can't wait until Tuesday!!!

Lora J--Thanks for opening up a new Political Debate thread. I really would like to have a Kerry Only thread, but it's good to have a "healthy" debate too. I hope it doesn't get too nasty. I'm going to go give it a look-see.

Um, you need to get a grip! I don't think that you realize how obsessive compulsive you sound. I went back to some of your old posts and they are all about the same issue. I know a lot of people who won't post here anymore because of you. That upsets me, because I like those people.

Why are you posting here? What are you hoping to accomplish? :(

You're right about Limbaugh- but that's how he makes his living. I'm not sure he even believes most of what he says... but it's good for business! Ya know what I mean?

And that is the problem. People like Limbaugh, Hannity, Medved, Beck, Boortz, and the rest of the rightwing talking heads spew that garbage for countless hours everyday. How disgusting can these people be? Right after 9/11, someone called into Limbaugh and posed the question "do you think liberals love their country?" Limbaugh could not even say "yes".

The fact is this administraton has been interviewed by the above rightwing talking heads and have not disavowed them, but have embraced them as a force for getting their message out. Good Lord, Hannity just interviewed Cheney last week. Whether this administration agrees with what Hannity says, they give a symbolic "thumbs up" when they appear on his show.

Until people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Medved, Beck, Boortz and the rest of the rightwing mouthpieces are shown the door by the regular Republicans, the trash talk will continue, and the divisions will get deeper and the pretty talk about "we're all Americans" is going to be just that, pretty talk. You cannot continually kick someone in the shins and then expect them to let bygones be bygones.

The divisions in this country happened for a reason and until you come to grips with that reason, the divisions will continue.

Can we start a thread about whether or not Desperado is an escaped mental patient?? (Just joking)

Does anyone else find he/she scary?:earseek:

I think you all will find people on both sides of the fence that won't support who wins. I have seen some pretty nasty, hateful posts in the BS thread.

I will support Bush as long as he does good for the country. If he does things that turn this country in the wrong direction, I can not sit quietly and watch him do that and say I support him.

And, I have seen nothing, with the exception of the invasion of Afghanistan, that this administration has done that has made this country a better place than when they took office.

Leopards don't change their spots, and I haven't seen anything to indicate this administration is going to change if they win this election.

Now, in the unlikely event Bush wins the election and the Bush administration does change, then and only then will I give them a second look.

If (and that's a big if) Bush wins this election, and he continues his ways of the last 4 years, I will not support him. I will not support someone if I feel they are hurting this country and if that makes some uncomfortable, so be it.

Well, have you ever been nice to anyone on these boards? I went back to your old DVC posts where you were fighting with Richyams. They all got closed. Why would you just come to a Disney board to troll? Are you trying to drive the 'nice' people AWAY from here?:(

What a LIAR ! Just how stupid does he think the American public is supposed to be?

Giuliani on Meet The press this morning, was asked about when he blamed the missing weapons on the troops in a Today interview last week. He replied that he was not stating his position, but Kerry's position. Give me a break ! We all heard or read precisely what he said. He never mentioned Kerry's name. He said it in defence of Bush. What has happened to people in this country that someone can just sit in front of a camera and LIE? Blatantly LIE. Are we supposed to be so dumb that we forgot what he actually said just a couple of days ago?

Good old Rudy was his old self again. What a liar and such a disappointment after his leadership during 9/11. And it is sad too.
