For FUN!! What's the 1 "luxury" you find hard to give up when budgeting

No one has said the obvious! Disney! We cut back every where so we can go, and saved up so we could buy DVC. Besides that....Mt. Dew. No way, no how. I will (and have) given up a lot. We are thinking about cutting our Direct TV and going with our Amazon prime and getting hulu along with an antenna. I'm also looking at the Republican Wireless for cell phone. All in the name of seeing the Mouse!

I'm a couponer so I usually don't buy anything without a sale and coupon. Like others, we need good coffee!

As a stay at home Mom, I can't give up Patron tequila to make cucumber margaritas on a Friday night with DH. Yummy!

The one luxury item I'm having a hard time parting with is our Gym/Health Club membership... I know it's almost $200 a month that could be put to much better use, but I get so sad every time I think about cancelling it and put it off for another month. :confused3

I don't use cosmetics (excluding stuff like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant), I get my hair cut at Mastercuts, I buy my clothes at Target, I don't carry handbags, I own five pairs of shoes (three of which are Crocs and flip-flops), and I don't drink coffee...

But if you take away my cable and DVR I will cut you. :happytv:

Edit - I didn't include internet because I don't view that as a luxury; it's required for my education and my job.

Oh my - I didn't realize there were so many things I couldn't live without!

Hair color, HBO (Game of Thrones), Internet, crystal light iced tea

Eating out and buying fun craft supplies. I love embracing my creative side, and I hate giving up that outlet. Also, I really miss eating out. That's what I had to give up this year so that we can go to WDW for 2 weeks during free dining. I know it's worth it, but man, I miss Friday night Chinese!

If it ever got to the point where I had to give up the internet, I would cry!

NICE toilet paper - Charmin with aloe and vitamin E. I even pack it for vacation. Do NOT let me use the cheap stuff. The good thing is - my husband is a convert and he agrees. :rotfl:

This was so much fun to read! Now of course we could live without these, but we sure do love them!

For me:
Clinique make up
Cut and coloring my hair
High Quality Shoes (other wise I get blisters the size of quarters)

For DH:
Charmin toliet paper
HBO
Steak and other expensive dinners at home every now and then

My DH has been downsized 3 times, and we truly found what we could live without.

Coffee. I buy expensive coffee and I have to have half n' half to go with it. I've tried to buy cheap coffee and I just can't stand it. :coffee:

My nook. I read all the time and I'm still ridiculously pleased every time I order a book and, in just a minute or two, it's right there, ready for me to read it. Love my nook!

Definitely cleaning lady. It is a luxury, but she is worth it. My body can't handle it, I'll end up needing physical therapy if I do what she does, and in the end that will hurt me more and cost more.

I love my nook but when push comes to shove I go to the library. I will not do cheap coffee. It doesn't taste good and is therefore a waste of money since we won't actually drink it.

I color my own hair but am brand specific. I won't take that out of the budget.

I guess we are fairly flexible except for a few things.

Oh and we would rather not go on vacation if we only had onsite value resorts to choose from.

lol I feel the same way about my Internet!! We actually had to give it up when we moved b/c we are temp at my moms and she doesn't have Internet. I liked to go on at night to unwind but now I find watching my "Criminal Minds" show is actually better to unwind with than the Internet. :)

I still use Internet at my father's here and there and it's fine.

The internet. Hubby is a grad-student and I just really enjoy being online. To me the $40 a month is WELL spent!!

We also eat out - a LOT (WAY too much!!!). That is something I want to cut way back, but will still budget for some each month!!! :)

Fun thread!!

Me- makeup
Internet ( cant go without dis boards)
At least one vacation a year
good laundry detergent! Lol

Ok, I have 4 lol

A few things we will never give up. (Well, we would if we were so broke we were going to lose our house or cars or couldn't put food on the table but otherwise things we will never give up.

Internet
Cable

I need the internet to sell on ebay since that's my "job" and cable because dh is a huge sports fan and he lives for college football and basketball. We live in a college town and the world seems like it stops when there is a U of A game on.

I don't go to the salon for haircuts and color. I do the color myself and the cuts at Great Clips. We don't do fancy restaurants or lots of eating out. We don't have new cars, we don't smoke or have expensive hobbies. So literally we already live an extremely frugal lifestyle so we aren't giving up internet or cable. And if I have a say we won't be giving up vacationing either. LOL!:rotfl2:
