One of my friends informed me that my roommate's dogs are spoiled because one of them gets to sleep with me and the other gets to sleep with my roommate (or at the foot of my bed when my roommate is out of town.) They don't even have beds of their own. For me, it's normal for my dog to sleep with me since the one I had when I was growing up slept with me as well (she had her own bed, but she stayed there for about 10 minutes before coming to my bed every night.) Does your dog sleep with you (or with someone in the household)?

Our Scottish Terrier sleeps in our bed every night.

IMO, a dog sleeping in your bed is just nasty.

Most dogs shed. Who wants dog hair in their bed? YUCK!

You won't get flamed by me....I knew there would be differing opinions. I asked the question because I wondered whether it's really all that odd for dogs to sleep in their humans' beds.

our big guy likes to. But he sleeps on the bed. Not in...

No flames here everyone's opinions are different but ours is not a shedder. Plus she gets a bath every few days and I change the sheets at least once a week if not twice a week. And her paws are wiped every time she comes in the house. So it doesn't feel "nasty" to us at all. Besides any scant hairs that might fall off of her are no nastier than our own hair and skin cells on the bedding.

I do....:goodvibes That is what those roller thingy's are for! My yorkie sleeps right next to me with his head on a pillow and my chihuahua sleeps under the covers next to my back. It's so comforting! (although my chihuahua does snore which really bothers me)

They let me sleep in their bed.

I have taught them however to sleep at the foot and alway on top of the covers. Never on the sheets or pillows.

Our dog was not allowed on any furniture. He had his own bed and blanket on the floor.

My chi is very needy and the epitome of a lap dog. She has gotten better over the years (honestly, she needed to be touching someone every second of the day), but she still sleeps nightly in the bed. She broke her leg when she was nearly a year old and the vet said she couldn't sleep in the bed for healing purposes. We tried putting her in the cage one night, and had to take her out because she was flailing around in there and banging on the walls of the cage.

We have three dogs, the two little ones sleep in bed with us. The big one sleeps on the floor.
Our two little dogs don't really shed but our big dog is a husky so there is no way he could sleep on the sheets without having to wash them daily!!

Neither of mine sleep in our bed. They are both over 50 lbs and one is still a pup there wouldn't be room. Maybe if I had a small dog I may let them.

I wish I could teach Hurley (the one that sleeps with me) to sleep at the foot. He is a Pit/Lab/Mutt? mix and weighs about 80 pounds. He also sleeps directly in the middle of the bed and I can't get him to move most of the time so I end up sleeping at whatever angle I can.

On the nights my DH is home our dog always comes up on the bed for a snuggle before we go to sleep. A lot of the time she will then go down onto the floor when it is time to go to sleep (much to my dismay). On the nights when DH works she usually declines my invitations to come up with me onto the bed, but oftentimes will make her way up there during the night at some point. During the winter, when it's really cold, I like to put her under the covers between us so we can rub her belly and use her as our fur blanket. She doesn't stay long but usually will cooperate for 10-15 minutes before she decides she needs her space. She's just like having a big stuffed animal.

Don't worry Kathi. I would never flame you, of all people! :) Not everyone is an animal lover and those people who are have various limits on what is tolerable. That's ok with me. I just happen to love snuggling my fur baby and feel it's worth a few stray furs.

My standard poodle doesn't shed. Jude is white and keeps himself very clean. He sleeps on the throw at the foot of the bed. In fact, he was up late last night watching tv and hasn't gotten up for breakfast yet. I made the bed around him.

We've got 2 150 lb st. bernards with a perfectly comfortable duplexdoghouse for them to enjoy!

My Chinese cresteds are hairless and absolutely sleep in the bed, under the covers. Even in the family room, they want to lay under blankets, all year long.
