What airline do you fly?

We are so sad that SONG will be gone from Delta very soon.. :( We loved the flight leaving around 11:00 a.m., the tv screens on the back of the seats, direct flights, and the prices.

I recently plugged in some random dates in Delta's website and every flight was just over $1000./per person! :faint: I checked other airlines and they were CONSIDERABLY lower. I know that Delta is currently flying under bankruptcy protection, but geez, why so high in price??

Another feature we loved about SONG was the ability to pick your seat online - do other airlines offer that?

I would love to hear other DISers experiences, good and bad, in flying out of Logan.

TIA!

Jill

We flew Jet Blue for our last flight out of Boston. I highly recommend them :thumbsup2 .

vald1977 - can you choose your seat beforehand, when you buy tickets online? That is something that is very important to us. What did you like about them specifically???

I like JetBlue as well, but their prices seem to be going up. If you aren't too far down into Mass or don't mind the extra time to go farther north, Manchester (New Hampshire) airport might be another alternative as SouthWest flies from there and it is cheaper to park (if that is a factor). We were able to get $59 internet specials from SW for our upcoming trip.

If we do fly out of Logan we usually fly USAir. However, we've gotten to really like flying out of Green on SWA, the flights are cheaper and we find the parking easier. You can't pick your seat, but if you get an A pass by logging on 24 hrs before, you are among the first on the plane and can sit wherever you like.

Don't know if you saw this thread from yesterday: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1063952&referrerid=70088

To the OP:
yes you can pick out your seats with jetblue when you make your reservation. The also have the tv's on the back of the seat. I highly recommend them!! Great service too! I am disappointed since now that we have moved to NC, we cannot use them anymore. I think you will prefer them over Delta, I know we do.

I fly Jetblue out of Boston and love it. What a great airline, and a great staff. They can be pricey but if you are flexible with your days and times you can find a decent price. I also fly Southwest out of TFGreen also. Jetblue lets you pick your seats, SW does not.

I flew both Jetblue and Song out of Logan. As I have noticed since Song has merged with Delta again, Jetblues prices seem to have gone up also. I was lucky enough to get a Ding from SW for my May trip but I needed to return to Boston so I was at the mercy of Song/Delta or Jetblue. I picked Song/Delta now they have canceled our flight out of MCO from 7:45 and put me on a 7:30 am flight NO WAY am I getting up at 3:30am to get on ME at 4:30 for a 7:30 flight. I am looking at adding more days to my trip and changing the flight time when I rebook so I dont have to pay the change fee. I hope this will work or I will hang up and call back to make the change with another agent. LOL Just like calling CRO if U dont get the answer U want call back.

I am flying on Delta/Song inDecember. Direct flight with all of the "song" amenities. I only paid $177 each ticket. yes, they have changed my flight a few times but I leave Boston earlier and leave orlando later so i am happy! I noticed my flights had gone up in price but it's becasue the return flight has 1st class seating only and that costs big bucks. I was assured though, that it has all the same things as Song, personal movies.. etc.

The aircraft with the Song amenities are mostly being redeployed to cross-country flights. I wouldn't expect to have TVs on DL flights between BOS and MCO any longer (though there will always be the odd exception, of course).

One thing to keep in mind about DL's pricing -- they have NOT YET released discounted fares for many of their flights later in the year. Some folks have speculated that they're simply waiting to make some system-wide schedling decisions before they do so, but I'm wondering if they aren't moving to a new approach, where they only offer full-fare tickets 330 days prior, and hold-off offering discount tickets until the discount airlines release their schedules (i.e., 4-5 months prior).

JetBlue is our choice, at least for now, but again, everyone should expect a very significant price increase between their last trip and their next trip. While JetBlue can afford to fly cheap now, they're doing so to gain our business, and shake out the weaker airlines. Once the shake-out is done, we can expect to see substantially higher airfares across the board, because airlines cannot survive long-term with the current airfares.

Another fan of Jet Blue here.

We used to like Song but their time changes drove me crazy. I also wasnt thrilled with their phone reps as they were less than helpful, and even gave us false information a few times when trying to reschedule changed flights. However the price, the flight times, and actual flights were always great. Our last flights scheduled on them (to LAX last month) were cancelled 5 weeks beforehand! Needless to say I wasnt happy. ;) We got a refund and went to Jet Blue for cheaper.

I have also checked out Delta for December and almost had a heart attack! :bitelip: So, Im waiting for Jet Blue to come out with their Decmeber schedule. I have flown them 3 times now (to CA and FL) and everything has been great.
