do you use a steam mop??? I was told by steam mop rep, yes you can. Thanks

I have hardwoods in the kitchen and I steam mop them once a week, in between I just use a damp cloth on any spills/problem areas. I love how it cleans, and I feel like the floor is really clean, that I haven't just pushed the dirt around. I have had no problems doing this, been using the Shark steam mop for approx. a year and a half.

I love the steam mop on my hardwood. I put some white vinegar into a spray bottle and spray the floor right before I run the mop over it. It looks great!

yup! works excellent. i have a shark i got at costco. It works so well that if i walk on the floor after it has dried it's so clean that my feet squeek! i've also done a test, I used murphy's oil soap 1 day and that eve I used the steam mop. What STILL came up was gross. so now i almost always use the steam mop every couple of days

As long as your floors are SEALED! (I think that is the requirement anyway) pleased to see these positive reviews I have wanted one but wasn't sure. Now I think I am.

I use the Hoover Floormate with the hardwood floor cleaner that comes with it. It cleans and dries the floors at the same time. If there is risidual water left, it sucks it right up. Is as easy as vacuuming.

Are we talking about hardwood with a polyurethane (sp?) coating on them?
If those are the kind of floors you have does the steam mop damage them in any way?

I currently use the Boma mop and spray system which is fine but I don't feel like I am getting the floors really "clean". I was told by the installer that you should only use water based products not the wet Swiffer or any other cleaners. Since the steam is just hot water I would think that would be fine.

Am I right?

I use a Shark Steamer that I got at Target on my wood floors. Works great! I have bamboo floors that were factory finished before installation and cherry floors that were finished after installation in our house. I wouldn't clean my floors any other way.

Someday when I am lucky I will have only hard surface floors in my house -- everything is so much cleaner!

My floors were sanded, and sealed in my home...not factory finished. I only use what the installer gave me which is polycare. I vacuum the floors weekly, spot clean in between and only need to mop them monthly with a hardwood floor type mop. They always look good when I am finished.

I use a steam mop on my polyurethan (sp) floors (done at the factory). They are fine.
