Motorways shut after depot blasts
Police have confirmed there were casualties at the oil depot
Travel has been badly disrupted after three explosions at an oil depot near Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire.
The M1 is closed in both directions between Junction 12 at Toddington and Junction 6A for the M25.
The M10 is also closed both ways between Junction 7 for the M1 and Junction 1 near St Albans.
A Luton Airport spokesman said the airport was fully operational, and smoke was not affecting flight paths.
Several main roads in Hertfordshire have also been affected.
The A4147 is closed both ways between the B487 Redbourn Road junction and the A414 Breakspear Way junction in Hemel Hempstead.
Also closed is the A4146 Leighton Buzzard Road southbound around the A4147 junction in Hemel Hempstead.
Some motorists in parts of London reported queues forming at petrol stations, suggesting possible "panic buying" of fuel.
