We take I -10 through Louisana. Then I -12 to aviod New Orleans, back to I -10. I -75 down to the turnpike and then to I -4.

So my question to you other drivers. When do you start to get that giddy feeling in your belly as you roll on.

We get it heading down I -75. When we start seeing all the tourist signs. Then the Disney signs. Things start getting happy happy join join. When I see the exsit onto the turnpike things getting jumpy then.

What does it for you?

same place as you. on 75 when you see your first disney sign. though every time we head down 10 going east i have to say "you know, this IS the way to disney." and i always get yes dear, i know.

We take 95 to I4 and we get excited when we hit Florida on 95. Ok, really we're excited the whole way, but once we hit Florida it's really exciting - of course there's still 2 1/2 hours to go at that point, but who cares!:thumbsup2

We're on 75 all the way from Atlanta, and it's when we hit the turnpike that it finally feels like we are close. We get really excited then!!!

Same here, except we call the Turnpike a "backwards treadmill" as that last little bit of the drive takes way too long.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned these....but strangely enough it's the "We Bare All" signs on the way down I-75. :rotfl:

We drive from NY. We start getting the feeling when we pass South of the Border. Then it's when we see palm trees. Then when we see Super Doppler (NBC) tower. Then when we see the Disney signs!! :cool1:

My Disney drive is broken up into 5 sections - NC to Florence, SC via 220, then I95 at Florence to Savannah, Savannah to Jacksonville, Jacksonville to Daytona Beach, and Daytona Beach to I4 and Orlando.

I always like to get to Savannah because I know I'm at least halfway there, but I don't get "the feeling" until I'm somewhere between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach. Depending on how long I've been driving and how the traffic is, I'm either ready or REALLY ready to get off the road by the time I've passed Jacksonville.

The biggest thrill is always when the signs turn purple and red - then I know I'm really there!!!

Whenever I see the first sign stating the miles till Orlando! :yay:

Well, I take that back... As soon as I get in the car!

I thought you were gonna say the feeling of 'Why in the heck did I drive *again*?!?!?!?' cuz I would get THAT feeling like Mid - Georgia when I realized I still had like 8 more hours or so to go. :lmao:

I fly now. :thumbsup2

BUT - we would also get that feeling on the turnpike! And then you wanna go ridiculously fast on it.... :rotfl:

And then when you exit the turnpike, and see the DtD hotels!!!! WOO HOO! Thats when the real belly willies kick in. And suddenly you forget you havent slept since the night before. ;)

For us, we come straight down I-75 from just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. :drive: It really starts hitting us just south of Valdosta, GA. And we absolutely love the Welcome Center at the FLA state line (free orange juice!). :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay:

We used to stop in Ocala at the Disney Visitor Center, but now it has been closed. :confused3:

Our last trip down, we took that new road off the turnpike (SR 429). It was so cool because as you neared the Disney property, the land was flat and there were no real tall trees. You could see the castle at MK very easily, and off in the distance, see other landmarks, such as the Epcot ball and ToT at the Studios. We came into WDW via Western Way and drove behind AK and the WDW nursery, where the plants are cultivated. A very cool drive in!

I'd have to say also when we hit the Florida Turnpike. When we see they colorful Welcome to Walt Disney World sign I grin from ear to ear..

We drive from Pittsburgh and break our trip into sections too. Once we hit the Georgia line I get a little excited. Passing Jacksonville getting a little more excited. On I-4 passing the Speedway and then seeing all the signs for Disney, Sea World, etc, getting really excited. Here come the Disney exits - I can't believe we're so close! Going under the Disney arch - that's when I tear up a little cause I'm so, so happy to be back again. Goodbye real world, HELLO Disney World!!!

People think we're nuts for driving, but you know, that's how we did it when I was a little girl and honestly there's just something special about the Disney road trip and building up to getting there.

When we see Louisiana in the rear view mirror!!!:rotfl:

There are several times during the trip when I get "that feeling". I love turning onto I-75 and then again onto the turnpike, but nothing beats actually entering Disney property! I love seeing those signs!!

I just had to laugh at the post about "We Bare All". There was one advertising a buffet or something at that place and DH said, "Well, there's a character meal for dads!":rotfl2:

Me too! I'm excited once I hit I-95. 95 South means WDW!

I was thinking it, but I was told I could not put it on the Disney board. I always have wondered about that place.
