For All Who Come to this Happy Place: My 1st Trip to DL for the POTC World Premiere!

Lindsey,

What an amazing trip! I am so jealous that you got to go to the Pirates premiere to see Johnny and Orlando:love:  Disneyland looks like so much fun. The last time I was there was when I was 6 years old and I really have no memory of it. I can't wait until I get to go back out there.

That's too bad that the weather was not cooperating with you on your trip but at least it gave you the excuse to buy that cute tinkerbell sweater!

You are very brave to stay at that roach motel, I don't know if I would have been able to handle it

I can't wait to hear about how the rest of your trip went!

did you like the little dog in the video at the tortilla factory that says "maseca"

:rotfl:

That was the BEST part! :rotfl: I was cracking up because it was so cute and, of course, had to keep saying "maseca" over and over! :rotfl2:

OMG, thats what happened to my teeth last year, but it was having just one tooth removed-the one all the way in the back, who knew??:confused3 I wish I still had my retainer from 15+ years ago :rotfl: .

Well, I hope you get your chance to get his autograph someday soon. Rumors have it (according to the guy that was Keith Richards body double-the guy on Big Brother 8) that they are going to make another POTC. But then again, its just a rumor. (Keeping fingers crossed REPEAT "I do believe in rumors, I do believe in rumors....":rotfl: ) DF has a friend from another message board, non Disney related, that has worked on all the POTC films. He sent us pics from behind the scenes from the past several films, however, sworn to secrecy on the set and for fear of losing his job, there are none of Johnny, Orlando or Keira. (Darnit! :headache: )

You mean Evil Dick from BB8!? Really!? Or is that just another one of his far-fetched celebrity obsessed stories? :rotfl:

Another great installment! I come over and read your report to get inspiration to write mine for WDW! (I've got twelve days worth!) Love the Bug's life theme! I had no idea DCA was so detailed. Maybe I'll get there some day.........

Awwww...that's so sweet to day! :goodvibes Wow...12 days!!! Don't get too overwhelmed! ;)

Disneyland Hotel
Dinner at Goofy's Kitchen

We left Disney's California Adventure and made our way through Downtown Disney to get to the Disneyland Hotel! Disneyland's Downtown Disney is actually right across from the two theme parks, you walk out, turn, and you're in Downtown Disney!

Disneyland's Downtown Disney was really nice and much more upscale than the one in WDW. They had some neat looking restaurant too! Sadly, we didn't have time to go shopping, but I must when we go back because they had a store called Vault Disney and other neat stores with the Disney Couture!

Disneyland Hotel is the original Disney Hotel and it's right at the end of Downtown Disney. I'm pretty sure the area use to just be the parking lot and the original monorail actually runs from Downtown Disney, neat the Hotel to Tomorrowland in Disneyland.

n25002324_32314880_4845.jpg

The Disneyland Hotel actual has a Mickey Sorcerer Hat too, like at Disney-MGM Studios! Well, it's not as big, but I still thought it was a great touch! You walk under the hat to get to the resort.

n25002324_32314881_5123.jpg

The neatest thing about the Disneyland Hotel is the pool! It's actually Never Land Pool and it's just like being there in Never Land! It's is the coolest pool I've ever seen, since I am such a "Peter Pan" fan!

n25002324_32314882_5417.jpg

Captain Hook's ship, the Jolly Rodger, is there and so is Skull Rock! DH & I decided for our next trip we'll stay at the Disneyland Hotel and I cannot wait to go swimming in this pool!

n25002324_32314884_5989.jpg

I found out about Goofy's Kitchen from doing some research on Disneyland's website and it's a popular character restaurant. I had a feeling that it would be a lot like Chef Mickey's in Walt Disney World. I love character buffets and I love Chef Mickey's, so I couldn't wait to try out Disneyland's version!

n25002324_32314885_6277.jpg

We checked in for our dinner reservation and we had to pay for our meal before we were actually seated, including tip. Then, we were given our receipt and would be called when our table was ready. There is also a time limit on how long you are allowed in the restaurant before you have to leave. I've never heard that one before, but I guess it gets pretty packed!

We got seated quickly, but first, Pluto greets everyone at Goofy’s Kitchen!

I just went out yesterday to Downtown Disney and bought him all the Cat items from the Disney Tails collection. He has the Disney Cat food bowls, food mat, and the toys! He must be Disney obsessed too! :goodvibes

Yes! I found these pics...so I don't think he's making it up...

That's too funny! I actually heard him talking about Johnny on the show. My family and I are big fans of "Big Brother!" I actually auditioned and made it to the semi-finals. I had to go to a second audition in Memphis. It was a fun experience. I didn't get it for that year because I was still young, so they told me to try out the next year, but I never did. My brother even gets the live-feed on the Internet! :rotfl:

Thank you! Jax is sleeping next to me in his leopard bed right now. I'm spoiling him! :goodvibes I have to take him to the vet tomorrow, so I don't think he'll be too happy!

I think we were just allowed a hour, something like that. It wasn't too much time. It was enough, since we were just two people, but there were are a lot of big groups that came in when we left.

All the character pics are coming up! :thumbsup2

Jax is adorable. I'm usually moving my kitty away from the computer monitor :goodvibes

Contrats on your new addition!

Thank you!!! :goodvibes Jax loves the computer and TV. He'll actually sit at the end of the bed and watch it. It's too funny! :rotfl:

Love the Disneyland hotels pool!!!!

Thanks! He's got the biggest ears, paws, and ears! Oh, I have to take him to the vet tomorrow for an initial visit and it's free because I adopted him. He has all of his shots and had been neutered, so I'm lucky! Maybe, he'll be a little use to it by now.

Thanks! I hope you have fun in VA and a safe trip!

It was so neat and I can't wait to go swimming in it next time! :woohoo: There is also a "Peter Pan" themed restaurant overlooking the pool too! I think we were allowed an hour for dinner. We had enough time because it wasn't overly crowded and we were only two people. I still think it was quite odd, but I guess it gets pretty busy there.

That pool at the Disneyland Hotel looks awesome! I was considering the Grand Californian for when I go but now I just may have to stay at the Disneyland Hotel instead!

I really liked the "fun and Disney feel" of the Disneyland Hotel. There is a lot of nostalgia in there too. The Grand Californian was very nice too and Paradise Pier looked like a fun place too! I know Disneyland Hotel also has Disney themed rooms that I must check out!

I am so glad you finally found my Trippies and are enjoying them! I've got a little bit more to write on this one and then I'll be starting another! :goodvibes

Goofy's Kitchen
Disneyland Hotel

We walked by the buffet as we were being taken to our table to be seated and it looked fabulous! We got seated near the buffet in a table for two and we were starving!

n25002324_32314894_8850.jpg

We were quickly greeted at our table by Minnie! I had to ask her what was good and what I needed to try on the buffet. She pointed out the dessert buffet to me! It looked yummy!

n25002324_32314887_6853.jpg

We made our way to the buffet and I piled my plates with macaroni and cheese. My favorite! They also had peanut butter and jelly pizza, which I quickly got addicted to. The food all looked really good and there was a lot to choose from.

Donald was the next to come around and greet us!

n25002324_32314888_7131.jpg

n25002324_32314889_7410.jpg

Then, it was show time! Music began to plays and all the characters came to the center of the restaurant to put on a show for everyone! Of course, all the kids had to get up and dance! At Goofy's Kitchen there was definitely a different array of Disney characters!

n25002324_32314890_7691.jpg

n25002324_32314891_7978.jpg

n25002324_32314892_8263.jpg

I was all ready for dessert and all the desserts were Disney themed, which was a neat touch! My favorite item on the dessert buffet, the Disney cupcakes! All the icings were actually different flavors and they were just so yummy!

n25002324_32314893_8553.jpg

Then, the Chef of our fabulous dinner arrived made a special stop by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal.
