for all us june half term visitors.................

Hi RoadTripFanatic,
In the UK we get a one week holiday this time of year, usually at the end of May, which we call Half Term. ( we also have half term weeks in February and October ).

This is a good time for UK visitors to go to DLP because the French, Spanish and most other countries don't have this holiday, so the parks are less busy on weekdays ( apart from Wednesdays when French schools have half day or full day holiday all year round ).

Many UK families with school age children use May half term for ( hopefully ) nice weather and lower crowd levels without having to try and get time off school.

I have been in Walt Disney World in the middle of Spring Break, and it was utterly Manic!! Never seen queues like it. It won't be that busy in DLP next week, but there will be more UK visitors there.

Half Term is a week later than usual this year, due to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations and Public Holidays on Monday & Tuesday.

P.S. Lucky you having all those trips to WDW, as well as Anaheim, Tokyo and Disney cruise.

I am very envious!

I have had 20 years of visiting DLP though, so very lucky in that respect, plus 5 holidays in WDW / Orlando. Had a trip planned to California this year, but has been postponed. Will get there one day!

Can I just say I've just checked the weather forecast (again!) and it's got worse - rain/showers every day next week now :confused3.

Urgh - think I need my wellies!!! If only I weren't flying I'd be taking them for us all - apart from DH as he only has 4 inches of suitcase room :rotfl2:. I hate wet trainers .

Can someone please do a reverse raindance or something? :confused3:rolleyes1

if it says showers, you're not going to get soaked - and its warm rain. Honestly, I've been to DLP in both May and June, the weather was unpredictable at best, we had thunder storms and heavy rain overnight almost every night one year, but it was only showery and cloudy during the day, and warm. One year we did buy ponchos because there was a serious downpour for a couple of hours, but after that? sunshine and a light breeze for the rest of the stay.
Take a spare pair of shoes for everyone so that if your footwear gets wet they get a day to dry out, and enjoy :).

I know Elaine - I need to stop worrying ;). Unfortunately some days it says 'rain' rather than showers which doesn't bode well.....

Still, as you say, if it is warm we should be OK. I only have one poncho which I've decided to take for DD1 as if she does end up in a hired pushchair at least she won't get as wet as we can kind of gather it around her. I have pack a mac rain coats for us too.

It's the footwear getting wet I can't cope with as there is nowhere to dry them! I was thinking trainers & crocs for the girls but I might take their doodles as well, that way they have a second more sturdy pair (than the crocs). 3 pairs of shoes each for 6 days :lmao:.

I am trying to pack lightly this time - :rotfl: Partly because we have booked in less luggage and partly because we need room for all the merchandise :goodvibes.

It's not long for you now either - I'm sure I'll be on here before you go but if not, have a fab time :woohoo::cool1::yay:.

Aw - it is so exciting! Did you watch Dreams in the end on youtube? I watched the first 4 mins or so and turned it off - only seen a few photos! So, I am going to be amazed I'm sure :goodvibes. Just think, as you are ready for the off, we'll be back :sad2:. But, then hopefully we'll be booking November hotel when we get back .

I will be bursting to tell the girls we will be returning but won't succumb! As, I'm sure there will be the inevitable tears when we have to leave next weekend.

I used Accuweather as I'm fairly sure Carrie (I think it was Carrie?) said that is often the best gauge? :confused3

I'll go with the best forecast :lmao:.

I use Accuweather among others - but it does change a lot from day to day :). If Carrie says the weather channel one is usually accurate for the DLP area, then I'd go with that!

No I haven't watched anything more than the first minute or so of Dreams online, but I can't wait to see it - I'll be crying, I know I will :rotfl:. Just as well its dark when its shown, thats all I can say!

im goin for the one that says glorious sun & 22 deg..... is there one that says that?? :lmao:

I'm on the train to London so although it's still two days til DLP I'm officially on my holidays and very overexcited!
I've been stressing a bit about the weather but we've braved DLP in the howling gales and lashing rain of Nov 2010 - early June rain, if it happens, won't ruin things :)
Nonetheless let's hope all the forecasts are wrong and it stays warm and dry!

Sorry Carrie - as you are such a font of knowledge on DLRP I had thought it was you :flower3:. I will have a look at the one you recommend and save on my phone (but only if it's better weather than I looked at already :lmao:).

Nikki - at the moment I can't see much of what you have ordered weatherwise for next week :rolleyes1.

Elaine - I am the same as you re Dreams. Even though it is dark I think I'll be wearing my :cool2:. :rotfl:

Lola - how lucky being on your way already, it makes it so much more real when you are on your travels :goodvibes. I agree in an ideal world, warmish and dry would be good, but warm and wet might have to do !

my order is due to suddenly arrive - its secret atm :rotfl:

NOTE: pack waterproof mascara for dreams.....

Well our holiday has sort of begun..... DS was picked up from school by Nanny and Grandad, and they are driving down to Kent tonight, and will go on Eurotunnel tomorrow lunchtime. We are staying at home tonight (DH working) and will drive down tomorrow, getting the 16:50 Eurotunnel.

It feels really strange not having my baby (ok, he's 5 but he's still my baby!) with me for the journey. I know he'll have a whale of a time going with Nanny and Grandad, and its nice for them to experience his excitement on the Eurotunnel, but I still miss him. Can't believe I won't see him until tomorrow night, and it will be in France!

We're pretty much packed, apart from the 'miscellaneous' pile - which I hate, by the way... all the stuff like camcorder chargers, medicines, toiletries etc - it doesn't fit neatly anywhere and I'm so trying to pack lightly. (Pah! Fat chance of that, lol!)

I'm kind of stuck clothes/shoes wise, because I only have one pair of trainers and no other shoes are comfortable enough for me to wear in the parks really. I've been on a strict diet, and lost quite a bit of weight but because I'm nowhere near my target I haven't bought any new stuff, so I'm kind of making do with mix and match clothes. All the trousers I'm taking are really long, and I don't have the time or ability to turn them up, so of course they are going to get wet if (when) it rains. :-( I didn't think this through nearly as much as I should have and now I really regret it. Poop.

Thank you very much for your warm welcome this is the only place I can share my disney enthusiasm :cool1:, does anyone know how busy bbwws will be next week as hoping to go, in all our trips we have never been and hoping to take advantage free ticket with our annual pass as birthday is in 2 weeks.

If it starts raining just roll your trousers up a couple of turns - better to be dry and comfy than that horrible wet that creeps up your legs from soaked trouser legs ;)

Thanks hun, I think I might have to take some trouser pegs, lol - all I have is really wide linen trousers that won't stay rolled up :-(

There must be something I can do, I really do need to think about this now. :scared:

Just checked weather wise and at the moment it says no rain expected till thursday, so doesn't look too bad!

 it changes by the hour - but seems to keep getting better which is fine by me ;).

Rach - I'm taking leggings & cropped jeans - that way if it's warm I won't be too warm and if it's wet I should be OK. Wet creeping up trousers is awful and as I said earlier, there is nowhere to dry them off - lack of radiators in hotel rooms! I hope your DS is fine without you - you will miss him more I'm sure!

Could you nip out tomorrow am quickly and buy something? - even somewhere like Asda or Sainsburys to get some leggings? Have to say, wide linen trousers sound lovely though :goodvibes. I had a similar issue as have lost a fair bit of weight so when I went to try on my summer trousers they were all 2 dress sizes too big - had to do an emergency shop! :lmao:

duck tales - sorry no idea about Buffalo Bills, we've never done it. Keep meaning too but I'm not sure DD2 would sit that well for it tbh. It appears that the parks are going to be busy but no-one really knows for sure what is going on! I hope you have a nice time there though :).

I was going to say exactly the same the thing as DLPDreams. Can you pop out tomorrow and get a couple of cheap pairs of leggings that could be paired with some baggy tops no problem? You'll be much more comfortable if it's wet then. Matalan also do nice cheap pairs if you have one close by. I've had similar problems as due to health problems I went from an 18 down to a 10-12 in the space of 6 weeks last summer and am now a 12-14. Most of the contents of my wardrobe were too big so got binned, now I have a load from last summer that are too small and I've had to buy loads again recently!

Have a lovely trip, hopefully the rain will hold off anyway!!

I'm stuck up doing my last washing load before we leave for Kent in the morning, would have been done hours ago but OH decided that we should all go round the neighbours house for a few drinks. Kids weren't bathed until 11pm! Grr!! Well at least they'll hopefully be tired enough to sleep in the car tomorrow!!
