For all the pleasently plump gals

I'm so tired of not finding ANY tall sizes in department stores. I mean, c'mon, they have a whole SECTION for petites, a whole SECTION for full figure women, but nothing for talls??? I get so annoyed with that. I buy almost everything online since I can never find anything long enough (especially pants) in department stores, but it would be nice to be able to try things on and not have to worry about postage if it has to be sent back. :(

I don't know if you shope there - but you can buy 'talls' sizes at jcrew THROUGH the catalog AT the store - and they won't charge you shipping. Also - anything you buy online can be returned at the store itself. (I've done this tons of times with jcrew/banana republic/abercrombie) That is - if there's a physical store counterpart near you.

but I agree - there are 2 separate sections for women - what about the tall ones!

I joke with my coworker - who's petite - we came into work one day with the SAME pair of capris on from old navy - hers were red, mine were blue - hers hit her ankles...mine hit mid-shin. a good 5 inches above my ankle. heheheh

Yup -- love J. Crew. Also, Banana Republic also sells Talls, so I spend a lot of money there too.

I'm referring to department stores. Sometimes I like just going into a department store and having everything there, from head to toe. I want to be able to buy the whole outfit in one place. But for some reason, they never have tall sizes . I wonder why this is? I mean, I know many women who are 5'8" and taller. Why have a whole section for petites and not even a couple of selections for talls?

ahh - ok - sorry, gotcha.

Yeah - I just don't bother shopping in Filene's for clothes anymore - unless it's a long dress. (sometimes even knee length ones are a bit short!)

The short and stout shop would be perfect for me!!! I am 5ft 2 in and have no waist. I get most of my clothes at Kohls and Catherines. I like very plain things without the cutie pictures on them too. I have found Sag Harbor and Gloria Vanderbuilt fit the best and seem to be priced right (when they are on sale). At the end of the year Kolhs will markdown to almost nothing so I always stock-up.

I've also had good luck at Catherines, that is where most of my suits have come from. If I'm looking for something special I always find something when I go to Stein Mart. I've also had good luck lately at Ross and TJ Maxx. I'm lucky we have a Liz Claiborne Womens outlet store about 25 minutes away too...

I have often commented that just because I am a bigger girl, I must not like wearing clothes that are fashionable.. and must love wearing somthing tacky, elastic, or just plain God awful... I find this EXTREAMLY unfair...

ITA..esp when it comes to swimsuits. I do NOT want an old lady swimsuit with a skirt. I don't want one with a hideous print of giant flowers, butterflies or whatever else you deem neccessary this season to embarrass the heck out of us.

Also..this is something I TOTALLY do NOT get..why do most stores now sell the top and bottom half a bathing suit SEPERATE? I went into Target the other day to look at buying a new tankini and walked out totally disgusted. They want like $20 for the top and then another $20 for the bottoms. Aren't you going to wear them together?
 No woman I know runs around in half a tankini. Walmart (or our local one anyways) was the same way.

The reason they sell them seperate is because many women wear a different size on their top versus the bottom. I'm an 18 on bottom, 16 on top. Some vary even more if you have more hips. This allows for a better fit. :)

Actually STILL have a waist---I am all A**! So, I can fit into a large or XL top, but 20W bottoms! I guess I am Pear shaped. I do shop on line with Roaman's they seem to fit me better.:o

Are you familiar with C.J. Banks? There is a Christopher & Banks and then C.J Banks for larger women (size 14 and up) - my mom loves to shop there and their web site is www.cjbanks.com/.

The women on my mom's side of the family are bigger women. My mom included - The smallest I have ever been is a 10, and I am now a 14 (down from a 16) struggling to get back down to atleast a 12 if not a 10. Finding clothes to fit me used to be just horror. I used to be alot bigger on top (fixed that problem with surgery as I was just have too many problems with my back and neck). Even though I am a 14, I would have to buy dresses in a size 18 just so they fit - although, they didn't really fit, as I would have to get them altered to fit my bottom half. For my brother's wedding, I had a size 18 top (that I felt was still a bit tight) and a size 14 skirt (just right) - it is tiring!!

Now, I have the opposite problem!! My bottom is now bigger than my top, and I see things sticking out that I just never noticed before :earseek:

I really hope to get back to my old size and maybe not have to struggle so much to find what I like. I am into alternative clothing, and they are so hard to find in sizes 14 and up!!

Having just returned from a day of shopping (and spending) I found wonderful stuff at Von Maur and Lord & Taylor. Both of these stores (and Parisisan, too) carry wonderful clothing for us fluffy women! Lord & Taylor has such great sales that I can get upscale clothing for the same price I'd pay at Avenue or Lane Bryant. They carry alot of 'party' clothes, too. One time I got a beautiful beaded gold top for $15!

I, too, wonder if the people that design clothes for us fluffies even think about the fact that we ARE different. I know that Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, et al basically take what they design for a size 4 and make it bigger and expect that we will look good in it, TOO! Go figure! Hey, note to clothing manufacturers.....HIRE A FLUFFY PERSON TO DESIGN FOR YOU!

I recently had the same problem. I needed an outfit to wear to a wedding. I finally found a stylish lavender pant suit originally priced at $180.00 for $45.00 at Burlington Coat Factory. I buy a lot of my clothes from there and also Jessica london.com. I even have found some jackets and matching slacks that I wear for work at Wal-Mart.

I like JC Penney when they have their end of season clearance and I can buy clothes for 75% off. I wear a size 18/20 and we don't have too many plus size clothing stores.

I also buy my my WDW vacation clothes from disneystore.com

I once found a bathing suit on clearence at Belk from $110 to $15. I must say the more expensive suit does fit a lot better and makes me look better. Buy them in the fall, dirt cheap.

...that I love. i like buying the tops and bottoms separate also. I can get them to fit better and I can mix and match! I love the suits they have with the shorts bottoms!

I LOVE this actually - provides a MUCH better fit. I have wide hips and no chest - so I'm a 'small' up top but a medium on the bottom.

and it's so you can mix/match patterns - very cool this year...
