On a recent trip, my DS's lens popped out of his glasses and the screw was lost. His father had to search all over the place for an eyeglass kit!

The kits are pretty small and will fit easily in a fannypack. I know I plan to have one with me, since both my children wear glasses!

Thanks for the wonderful tip! DH wears glasses and would be almost blind without them. We'd have to leave the park and get his spare glasses out of the truck if something ever happened to them.

I wouldn't have thought of this! I take extra glasses for the pool, but what good would they do back at the resort?

Thanks again! :D

Where do you get an eye glass kit? And how would you know if the correct screw is in there? My DS had a lense pop out, and a different store than our regular one put in the wrong screw and almost stripped the hole where the screw goes. Another question, we only have one pair of glasses for DS. His prescription is changing all the time due to therapy, so we have only have one set for the time being. Should we get a spare set before we go? We leave in 25 days. Thanks

Sears optical has a warrenty plan you can buy. 25.00 for 2 years. If they break the frame, they will replace it FREE. Lenses are about 12.00 to replace with this plan. We have gone through about 4 pairs since Aug. This last time I went to Sears and got the Warrenty. The old ones were costing me 50.00 a frame. So I could have banked the $$$$.

You might want to take his last "old" pair for 'just in case' if you can't afford/don't want to buy a second pair. For years, we couldn't afford to buy 2 pair & that's what I did. This is what I use for the pool. (I really can't see & get severe headaches & sick to my stomach when not wearing glasses.) It's not the best, but many times it saved us a trip to a doctor we didn't know and/or ruining the vacation.

It's probably not as much of an option if his prescription changes significantly each time. As I think about it, mine did before I turned 21. Now it changes very little, so I don't mind at all!

Thats a great idea, I have what one might call a WDW keyring that has all manner of things attached. My eyeglass kit is a very small screwdriver with a screw-off top containing 5-6 different screw sizes and a nose pad. A Microlight flashlight, Very small pliers that fold up, several sizes of safety pins and 2 little metal pill cylinders with Tylenol and Imodium.
This takes up little room and is always in the front pocket of my Camera/shoulder bag. My glasses have never had a problem but have helped 2 other people in the last 4 years. The safety pins always seem to go and I used to have these little sample bottles of Super-glue (3 drops) that also hung on the ring and were used many times to fix a loose or broken fingernail.
The best thing is it is all togather and I can just grab it on my way out no inventory needed.

DH and I both wear glasses full time and have carried a glasses repair kit in our fanny packs for years never having to use it at Disney...then one day while we were just sitting down to watch Indiana Jones my husbands lense popped out of his glasses...He managed to fix his glasses during the preshow..he got some strange looks but it worked wonders..I highly recommend glasses wears have one with them. They are available in most stores near the pharmacy section we have found.... ;) ;) ;)

MANY years ago, my Grandmother and I were riding PoC when a lens popped out of her glasses. I managed to find the lens floating around in the bottom of the boat. We asked the CM, and was advised to go to the Contempory. So off we went, via monarail. The jeweler in the Contempory did replace her lens, but was hesitant, as he wasn't sure if he was doing it right.

The lens stayed in, and we enjoyed the rest of the vacation. But I remember this every time I am on PoC.

I adjust the screws in my glasses daily. Never had them pop out. If you are faced with a situation, a local drug store will carry eyeglass repair kits for about $2. Both Walgreens and Eckerds are nearby WDW on Apopka-Vineland Rd. (take a left out of the downtown disney resort road at the light)

great tip!!! those are one of those things that are hard to find when you need it!!! And for contact user...try to bring an extra set if you can...unfortunally I cannot since I wear weighted ones that are very expensive. -Cris
