Congratulations to Flyerfan for post/reply #2,000...as in 2,000+ mile round-trip drivers! :cheer2:

All the best.

Leaving NJ Friday around 1p and aiming for Disney Saturday around 3p...driving straight. Have my MP3 ready, coffee, and snacks and I have thoroughly threatened the children.... I am ready.;)
Over the DE bridge and straight away down I95 - wave if you see me, I will be the nut who is singing and everyone else is screaming in the Van. :rotfl2:

Some good folks from the midwest are contemplating a drive. They raised the question on a TRANSPORTATION thread titled Cost analysis - How much is your time worth? I replied with remark #19. What comments would you add?

All the best.

Got a question. Trying to plan our trip in November....when to leave WDW. Currently we're leaving Saturday morning early but thinking about shifting our days a little..going down earlier and leaving earlier so we're home on a Saturday. We're a little flexible so I was wondering how I-4 through Orlando would be on a Friday from about Noon until 2 or 3?

Thank you guys for the responses I got a few pages back on driving from NE in the winter. DH said that with the mountains it might be worse than going 95S. I have to tell you I loved going the other route a million times better and I have all of you guys to thank for it. It made our end of June trip perfect!

I priced roundtrip for 4 people on Southwest today for our trip just in case, and it was over $2,765.00 for 4 people to fly non-stop from Providence to Fort Lauderdale where our cruise will leave from, then rent a car to Orlando after the 5 night cruise for the WDW part of the vacation. No way are we spending over $3K in gas, so driving it is....LOL

MY kids still talk about the drive they loved it!

How true, I love the drive down and back, This year I made the mistake of doing 95 south bound, instead of the inland route, its back to 84-81-77-26 then 95 and i4 from now on both ways :)

Around those times and that day my family and I have had no problems with I-4.

:thumbsup2 very nice bc! wow, someone analy. the wear on there tires? if moneys that tight, maybe that person should rethink about vacation!:lmao: people who dont know me ask me , oh, what time is your flight? i allways say we drive down. they say, why? its so much easier to fly. i tell them i cant afford it, i wish i could. (i dont tell them the good reasons to drive like we all know) it clogs up the highways!!!!!:lmao:i figure thats one less car infront of me screwing around in the left lane!!!!!:rotfl:

We come from NY about 2500 miles Roundtrip but have a ton of fun doing it with Me, DH, DD 17, and sometimes Niece who is 19. Couldn't think of a disney trip without it, it is part of the fun and memories that we always have... :yay:

I would of swore you were talking about me. :rotfl: When I get in the drivers seat on our drive from Grand Rapids area to Disney I put my kid plugs in and tell my dh that he gets to deal with the kids, I'm driving!! (I'm a sahm so for me the drive is a vacation for me as I finally can be in my own little world while he deals the the kids. :woohoo:

I don't think I've wrote on here before.. so here's our info.

We live in the Grand Rapids, MI area and for the past 7 years my husband and I (and kids once they were born) always drive down to Orange Beach, AL in Feb to visit my parents who rent a condo for the month. Then a couple years ago we decided to take the kids to Disney for the first time. So now it's we drive straight to Disney.. stay there a week and then drive over to Orange Beach for a week before heading home. We are so bummed as this will have to be the last year doing that though as next year our oldest will be in 1st grade and I personally can't take him out of school that long. So our trips will have to change somehow. :sad1:

Hello all! I was the one who submitted the post that bc1836 mentioned above. After reading most of the posts (especially bc's post) we are leaning towards driving down Disney next June, and to dvczerfs I promise to stay out of the left lane unless I am gonna pass!

We are also doing a cross country trip in December (Michigan to Arizona) so I that will be a good test of how it will go on a shorter trip to Disney.

So two things I was looking into for our trips and was wondering if anybody had any experience with them. The first is Sirius Backseat TV. My co-worker said he traveled with a friend up North (Michigan talk for going to the Northern part of the state) and it was great. Anybody here have any experience with it? Seems like a great product since my girls have either Nick or the Disney channel on ALL THE TIME!!!

Second was looking at getting a 12V - Car Cooler for drinks and stuff like sandwhiches. I think it would be great not having to deal with melting ice and all but wondering if anybody think they are worthless??

Thanks again for your ideas!
