lol its a shame they weren't there together. :lmao: she liked working the Christmas parties better then the Halloween parties. I think it was the bat she had to wear on her head. :lmao:

Britt would have liked working the holidays better I think too.

In April we stayed here, just N of Charlotte:
16825 Caldwell Creek Drive, Huntersville, NC

It was a good hotel. Here's how I find them: Use Google maps for the area you want to stop. Type "hotels" in the search bar. Start picking them off and check rates, then check Tripadvisor for reviews. If 80% of reviews are favorable I assume it will be at least OK. Sometimes you find one with overwhelming good reviews... winner winner chicken dinner.

Thanks for the tip!:thumbsup2

:drive:We are driving again on the 17th of this month and are trying a new strategy. Driving in the daylight... lol
My vampire self won't know how to act I am sure. :)

Leaving here around 3am puts me at around Santee, SC at my stop mark. Does anyone have experience staying at a nice hotel on the south side of $100 a night? I am funding the trip and the Mom Mom's have to stop and being on the side of the road isn't their cup of tea.

Thanks so much!

I never liked bulges or munchies. I guess I showing my age. Lol

LOL - well eating too many "BUGLES" will absolutely lead to "BULGES" right in the mid-section. Just sayin' :rolleyes1

Have a great trip. We switched to OKW when the room discount came out for November. We love it there too. We also love Fort Wilderness cabins and Boardwalk so between the three, we can't decide what we love the best. It's wherever we are, I think.

Neighborhood news: The price of a gallon of regular gas dropped six cents yesterday to $3.29.

Tweevil: Good luck in your search for a nice I-95 hotel room under $100 during the summer. The "under" (or as you said, "south of....") part can be a difficult find at this time of year, especially if you want some quality.

sharadoc: Thanks for alerting those posters on the other new thread who were inquring about folks who drive more than 15 hours to reach WDW. This, indeed, is the place.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone:wave2:!

Someone pointed me in the direction of this thread after I posted about potentially driving down in January 2015. I would be 100% down for it, it's the boyfriend who is not into the idea and actually LOVES flying. Still have a few months to convince him...:rolleyes1

We'd be driving down from Michigan - 18 hours. Considering leaving after work on a Friday (about 6pm) and driving through the night. I read a few replies re: driving through the night but was curious to hear any other opinions about doing so (advising against it, for it, etc).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks BC :)
You would think after all of these trips I would make notes... lol

I going to research tonight, hopefully I find something.

We checked our files and discovered that we booked a satisfactory Holiday Inn Express room in April 2013 for $99+tax (Priority Club +AAA). That's the cheapest room we booked in years.

All the best. :thumbsup2

I was able to book the Best Western Plus in Santee, NC through Travelocity for $89. I think someone on here had mentioned it in the past. It had good reviews on several sites.

I would dump the boy friend. :lmao: im just kidding!!!!
everyone is different. I find it easier to come home from work and sleep till midnight, leave around 12:30am and arrive at wdw at 4-4:30pm or so. we tried the leaving after work and driving through the night, the way I look at it, leaving Friday after work, fighting to stay awake and when you arrive, your going to sleep most of Saturday away. so I would rather sleep Friday for six hours or so and get there Saturday afternoon still on my normal sleep. for us driving through the night didn't really gain anything. but, everyone is different. there really is no good or bad way.
traffic is another consideration. for me, the first four hours are the most congested. once I pass the four hour mark its a little easier of a drive. im a very early riser so driving in the wee hours of the morning are easy for me, others think I am nuts. my dad could leave at 5pm and drive through the night and take a nap for a few hours when we got there and was fine the rest of the day. there would be no way I could do that without medication. :lmao:

We are leaving RI at 3am on the 16th and stopping in Santee around 6 or 7. From experience there are plenty of Holiday Inns and Marriots there that are about $99/night.

Howdy!

Where will you be staying at WDW?

All the best. :thumbsup2

What apps do you guys use on your phones…… when traveling I-95?? Any suggestions?

Has anyone stayed at the Candlewood Suites in either Rocky Mt. or Wilson, NC? It looks like Wilson would be cheaper, but reviews are mixed. I've got enough points for a free night. :cool1: More $$ to spend at Disney!!

And, anyone in New England driving down for Marathon weekend?

I use the same ap as dd and I also use i4 cam. I4cam give you up to the minute traffic pictures, incidents etc... From i95 to Tampa. I watch them every so often so I can get a good idea when traffic starts to build.

Hey folks -- took one for the this team here today and went over to I-495 in DE to see what's what. It is OPEN, but only Southbound. NOT northbound. On the big sweeping left curve over to my escape route to home (Del Mem Br), I could see northbound I-95 traffic. It was packed and slow.

As for apps, I've been using Waze a bit. Bring a power cord...;)
