This may be an odd thing to ask here, so bear with me, but I have a question about sleeping before the drive. I've seen a few mention that they'll come home from work, sleep for a few hours, and then drive all night. Others, dvczerfs in particular, go to bed early (7:00 pm), get a good night's sleep, and the are on the road by 3:00 am. My question is -- how??? Seriously. I have a hard time sleeping, period, before a big trip (driving or flying). On an average night, I am in bed by 10:00 pm. If I try to sleep much before that, it throws my whole schedule off and I might still be awake at 1:00 or 2:00 am. If I go to bed really early, I might nap for 20-30 minutes, but certainly nothing that would tide me over all night. For those that are better at this than me, are there any pointers or tips you can pass along? Or is it is something that either you can do it, or you can't? In 81 days, we'll be leaving around 3:30 am, and I would love to get 8 hours of sleep the night before since I'll be driving about 12 of the 13 hours on our first day. I'd be okay with 6 hours of sleep, but that would still have me in bed and snoring by 9:00 in order to be awake by 3:00. (I'd like to have a quick breakfast and brush my teeth before we leave.)
