For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only! (III)

Twenty-six 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip WDW drives since 2002, but we're flying to Disneyland (well, to LAX...) tomorrow.

We would certainly like to do a cross-country drive there and back some day. Any East Coasters ever do the Anaheim-and-back drive? :moped:

All the best. :thumbsup2

Funny how many things we have in common! How old are your kids McBane? Mine are 7, 11, 16, and 17 (though older two will both be a week away from their next birthdays when we travel). I hope you have a smooth and safe drive.

We are more west of Philly than north (Reading area), and all the calculators and our past experience has been that this is a like 16 1/2 hour drive for us. We have driven 95 (especially the route from here to DC/Northern VA) many times and we are comfortable with that drive. I will investigate and talk to dh about the 81 route.

We could stop and stay over night somewhere if we had to. First leg of our trip is very low key and we can take a day to relax or hang out at the water park to re-coup from the drive. We are not doing Disney parks this trip mainly to make certain we are rested for the 7 day cruise on the Fantasy at the back end of the trip.

Our boys are 12, 10, and 8 (twins) We live just west of Allentown. I think we'll leave early and stop for the night a few hours outside of Orlando. This way we can check in early and hit the parks for the better part of our first day. Super excited to hear the trip isn't as long as I had originally anticipated.

Hope you have a magical time on your cruise! :thumbsup2

Hey you Allentown/Nazareth folks!

Headed your way on Sunday. Girl Scout trip to DaVinci Science Center! MapQuest is saying 663 to 29. Make sense?

hi sharon!!! its on hamilton blvd directly across from dorney park. thats one way of getting there. or

come up rt309 get off at hamilton blvd and go east towards dorney park.(to the right) you will see dorney park from rt309. dsc will be on your left.

or northeast extension to lehigh valley exit. after toll go towards allentown (right lane) get on rt 22 to rt 309 south. take 309 south and exit hamilton blvd. go east on hamilton(turn left)

i would say rt 309 would be easier. everything is well marked and i dont think dorney is open yet so there wont be alot of traffic. text me if you need! :thumbsup2

WELCOME TO PENNSYLVANIA!!! THE POT HOLE STATE!!!

You're coming up from Limerick, correct? Def. take 663(or rte 100N) to 29 follow that right into Emmaus and turn left onto Cedar Crest Blvd. and follow it up to the science center! Due to rte 222 being split into 2 seperate one way highways you'll either need to turn right onto Rte 222 S.(at King George Inn), then take the u-turn around the back of the kings shopping center, then science center entrance will be directly on your right OR take Cedar Crest all the way past that same shopping center(TGIF's and Kings store), past the lights for Rte 222S & Rte 222N, then turn right into the Cedar Crest College entrance, follow the driveway and turn right at the Rodale Aquatic Center and the parking lot links to the science center one! Please lmk if you have any other ?'s!:thumbsup2

Got to google maps and type in the address and zoom into the map so you can understand the set-up with the entrance and all!

We are joining the 2000+ miles in June:) This year we are not going to Disney as we did that last year and we want to wait to see the new fantasy land but will be seeing seaworld, busch gardens, aquatica and island of adventure. This trip we have one more kid then last year so less room in the van. This trip we will have my sister, her 2 kids 5 and 7 and my 3 kids 7,9,10. Last year we made pit stops, slept overnight places this time I am going to try to only stop once at the most to sleep. We plan on leaving 10pm on friday and arrive on sunday morning. I figure I will sleep during the day on friday and drive thought the night so the kids will be sleeping for a majority of it.

You def. do NOT want to take Rte 663 all the way into Q-town to pick up 309...that would be a waste of time and gas!
BTW my dh does call me the "Navigator" :rotfl:

geez, everyone flying now days???? where is everyone!!! :confused3
just checking the ticker to make sure the ticker is still ticken.

We went on our trip at the end of March. You can read my trip report (link in my siggy) if you like. It's pretty short and has lots of pictures - including pictures of the drive down. I didn't shoot any pictures on the drive home :rotfl2:

We're getting close for our 1130 mile drive! We take RT 95 pretty much the whole way usually taking 295 around DC and Richmond. We'll drive straight through it will take us anywhere between 19 and 22hrs. Going down is fine it's coming back, that's the pits!

Either that, or we've done so well answering every question and discussing everything that there's nothing else to talk about! :lmao:

FYI - we did 663 to 29 on Sunday, got there but got confused with the shopping center. The girls thought it was hysterical :)
