National gas prices continue to decline to an ave. of $2.71 per gallon (regular); here in NJ the ave. price is down to $2.51.

I have to agree. PA is always under construction. From the beginning of the state line to around Harrisburg is where we find our trouble or bad luck. In 2007 it took us 6hours to get through PA because of the stop-and-go.

Anyone know if hotels along I-95 will allow early check-ins if available??

We are leaving from the Washington, DC area and were wondering if someone knew where Cracker Barrel restaurants were along I-95? I thought someone mentioned one in NC?

Go to this Link from Cracker Barrel, put in your start & end points & it lists all the Cracker Barrels between those points.

There are actually 6 listed in NC.

I know there was a link to various construction traffic problems, but I can't remember where it was. PA always seems under construction and I want to be aware as much beforehand as I can of any problems.

If you can't find a Cracker Barrel, then there's always Waffle House!

Seriously, they are EVERYWHERE!!!!

This is a traffic guide for I95. It will bring you to VA but I think you can just adjust it once you get there. Someone posted this link earlier in the thread and I just saved it to my favorites for when I will use it in April.

Good luck!

i can let you know there is construction on 81 in pa from the just outside the ny border to around Clarks Summit PA - then from Central Scranton to Moosic - then from Avoca to Wilkes Barre - then from Dorrance to the 80 spilt -

i havent driven past that point since june so i can advise of anything else

A new thread asks about "driving from Orlando to Miami what to do on the way?"

Only Orlando to Miami? :rotfl2:

We stopped at mostly McDonalds's so DS could run and play. I would say we stopped about every 1.5-2 hours for DS to go to the bathroom. Once we got past IL, I think the speed limited every where was 70. We went 73-74 mostly. In FL, I drove 76, mainly because I was ready to get somewhere for the night and the traffic was nothing. I have more notes somewhere. I'll dig them out as we unpack. Gas at the Boardwalk Hess was $2.57 on Saturday morning. We left Disney around 8:40am and made it home at 12:45am. The rain was pretty rough driving home and DS was very fussy. He just could not get comfortable.

So about 16-17 hour trip? Good info. I look forward to what ever else you got.. I got 60 days left!:woohoo:

We stopped at one last year in Davis, NC -- It was really nice. But, yes, we saw a ton of them all up and down 95 last year.

Can anyone help with a decent hotel that is pet friendly along I-95? We are going to try and drive straight through if we can but I wanted to have a back-up plan in case we need to stop -- And we will have our 14 lb peek-a- poo with us too! :dance3:

Is driving from ny to fl the end of january crazy?

nope, we drove down from northern NJ in February. We wound up leaving 12 hours earlier than planned, we were supposed to leave around lunchtime on the 5th but, we left just after midnight because there was a blizzard coming. I am so happy we watched the weather channel and news reports like crazy for a few days before the trip. The storm had Washington DC and virginia buried after we passed through. We got a jump on the storm and missed it but, if we had left at our orginial time we probably would have been stranded somewhere along the way.

Quick question...

I want to turn some of our cc points into gas cards for the drive down. My choices are BP, Shell or Chevron. Which stations will be most frequent on our journey????:confused3

Well, my personal belief is that I will NEVER give my money to BP ever again -- The oil spill was just too much for me to handle and I cannot justify giving my hard earned money to BP -- no way, no how. :headache:

That being said, I seem to remember a bunch of Shell Stations up and down I-95 -- I wish I could remember where we first filled up (our first stop was in Davis, NC, leaving from Philly) -- God, I hope it wasn't a BP!!!!!
