Well, my personal belief is that I will NEVER give my money to BP ever again -- The oil spill was just too much for me to handle and I cannot justify giving my hard earned money to BP -- no way, no how. :headache:

That being said, I seem to remember a bunch of Shell Stations up and down I-95 -- I wish I could remember where we first filled up (our first stop was in Davis, NC, leaving from Philly) -- God, I hope it wasn't a BP!!!!!

There are a large number of Exxons and BPs , but i don't recall any shells (i use shell at home...)

I did notice that Exxon was generally 10 to 15 cents a gallon more than any of the other stations in the vicinity around them.

Too funny -- and all I remember are those big Yellow Shell Signs!

Here is an older article I found -- There has to be some sort of guide to tell you the current gas stations up and down 95, I would think! :confused3

Quick question...

I want to turn some of our cc points into gas cards for the drive down. My choices are BP, Shell or Chevron. Which stations will be most frequent on our journey????:confused3

There are a ton of Shell stations along I-95 in every state. I fill up at Shell stations on every trip.

It's hard to disagree with that... but 98 percent of BP stations in the US are independently owned, and those are the people who are hurt most when you choose not to buy BP. The company itself can, will and does sell its oil on the global market at the going rate, so they'll make their money no matter what.

Speaking of gas: Prices at the pump continue to decline nationwide. The best price we saw yesterday was $2.37 a gallon for regular.

All the best. :thumbsup2

That's awesome, since we leave tomorrow for Disney. I hope it keeps on dropping. :cool1:

I am sure if I go back and re-read this thread I can find the answers (I didn't take notes when I read through the 1st time). I am looking to stop somewhere in SC on our drive down. Looking for a hotel that has "suite" rooms with a separate bedroom. Anywhere in SC is fine. Suggestions???

I'd try Marriott's Residence Inn in Florence, SC. It's just off I-95 and a two room suite (king bed & sleeper sofa) should run about $130-140/night.

gas is trading for 1.90 at the close today. it was about 1.88 but it was heading up past 1.92 and fell back down again. lets hope it holds!!!:thumbsup2

nope, we drove down from northern NJ in February. We wound up leaving 12 hours earlier than planned, we were supposed to leave around lunchtime on the 5th but, we left just after midnight because there was a blizzard coming. I am so happy we watched the weather channel and news reports like crazy for a few days before the trip. The storm had Washington DC and virginia buried after we passed through. We got a jump on the storm and missed it but, if we had left at our orginial time we probably would have been stranded somewhere along the way.

We left the 4th from NJ as well. ON the way home on the 12th, it snowed in Savannah as well! Overall, we were Very lucky for the actual drive. Our house had over 2 feet of snow at home!

We have a Shell CC and we only use it for trips for the convenience. There are definitly tons of Shell stations on the way down. What we did was use the Drive I95 book that list what gas stations are on which exits and we planned accordingly.

Our last several trips in a Honda Civic required three tanks of gas to get to WDW: one full tank to start our trip and then two on the drive (the first in northern NC and the second in GA).

All the best. :thumbsup2

What is the other route that avoids I-95 the whole way? We've done the 81-77-26 but I thought there was another way that people have tried and liked. I would like to avoid Charlotte and Columbia.

We just did 95-26-77-79 the whole way back. I, too hate Charlotte. Never had a problem with Columbia. This time I planned on hitting Charlotte after 6pm which actually worked out great and we got north of Statesville before we stopped for the night. The only other way I know of to avoid 95 is to go through Atlanta, but I don't know the route number off hand. Atlanta can be worse than Charlotte at times. On the way down we stopped in DC in mid-afternoon, saw the sights at night and left via 95 the next morning. It sure was great to see the traffic lined up for miles on the way into DC while we had clear sailing on the way out. :thumbsup2

we are driving at night time anyway so we won't be seeing anything anyway, but DW in our dreams.
