We are in Winnipeg and our return trip is 6,750 kilometers or for the US folks 4,050 miles. We leave next friday evening and the drive will be 30 - 31 hours including stops with 3 drivers. This should be a breeze because usually we only have 2 drivers. I29 to I70 to I24, stop in Nashville at Loveless Cafe for dinner, to I75 and Orlando.

Thanks for the conversion. It's too late in the day for math. And I will surely show this to my wife so she can see that we don't have that bad of a trip after all.....

Speaking of, we start our 2,200 mile round trip tomorrow. I'm a wee bit excited....:banana::banana::yay::yay::yay:

Cheers,
Indy

Have you ever eaten at the Loveless Cafe? We stop there every time we're in the Nashville area. Great food. Must warn you, since you'll be there on a Saturday, you'll probably have at least a 90 minute wait for a table.

We're driving from Michigan on August 12th. We're babies when it comes to driving, though, so we'll make the trip two days long. :upsidedow

We leave in 30 hours!!!!!!!!!! 81 to 77 to 26 to 95

Anyone made this run recently? If so traffic/police/construction updates are greatly appreciated. We are leaving from Scranton Pa and will drive straight through.

Thanks in advance for all the help

We're taking the same route, though, I have to get out of PA first. We're leaving tomorrow at 3PM. Look for me. I'll be the only black Xterra on the road.

Cheers,
Indy

Yeah, HP has to wait until we get back. It's a tradition that my uncle, my cousin and his son and I go to each of the films. This time, though, WB didn't contact me with when they decided to release the movie and decided to do so while we're on vacation. What nerve.

We're at CSR for 7 nights starting Saturday. You?

Cheers,
Indy

You aren't bar hopping the whole way down??:confused3:rolleyes1

We're staying at DTD's Royal Plaza on Friday night and checking into CSR early-early on Saturday. Gotta make an 8:05AM ADR at Crystal Palace then meet Rapunzel.

Safe travels. If you see a guy with a backwards PSU hat and a camelbak with a LGMH attached, that me. I'll be with two beautiful blonds, DW and DD4.

Cheers,
Indy

I was just playing with aaa triptik and compared our route on mapquest and I saw that aaa tells us to go 285 around Atlanta instead of going thru Atlanta on 75 (mapquest).
Midwest drivers....which would you advise going thru Atlanta???
drivers in general do you prefer following triptik or mapquest????

thanks

We drive down to Disney and FL about 3 to 4 times a year and take 75 thru Atlanta. As long as there are 2 or more people in the car, you can use the HOV lane. And traffic on all expressways in and around Atlanta are bad during rush hours.

Hi! We're just a little bit down the 401 from you (near Trenton). What route do you plan to take? Seems like the default route for Mapquest and AAA is I95 most of the way. Since it takes you thru so many mega cities, the traffic can be a bear, so we avoid it like the plague.

We cross the border at Gananoque (1000Islands/Hill Island), then take I81, I77,I26, I95. Adds less than an hour, but is SOOO much easier to drive. We usually overnight in Columbia SC. Pooler GA would put you a fair distance south of there. It's only a few miles from Savannah, so I'm guessing you'll find lots of chain hotels right off the exit. A quick look at exit info on AAA showed a Best Western, Travelodge, Microtel and La Quinta.

If you have any other questions about the drive, let me know. We're planning our next drive for this Sept.

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to give that information to my husband as he will want to do most of the driving. I don't mind driving but prefer to ride and he prefers to drive so it usually works out.

If I had my preference we would be flying but are trying to do this trip as cheaply as possible. :thumbsup2

765 hours until we begin our drive. Leg one is W. Mass to 45 W of Savannah GA.. approx 997 miles..then the 320 miles from there to Pop Century on the 18th!
