Done and done. Thanks for the reassurance. I'd rather drive interstates the entire way. Set the cruise and roll. Eastbound and down on Thursday!! I think I need to download that right now.... I'm pretty sure I sang that for about 20 minutes on I26 last year on the way to HHI. We were rollin' along at 70 mph in what amounted to bumper to bumper beach traffic. It was insane.

Just a quick question....how did you make it from Lehigh to WDW in 16 hours? I'm assuming you didn't stop - at all - and potentially peed in bottles. DW and I are sitting here debating on rolling straight through if we can manage. I'm shooting for 19 hours.

Cheers,
Indy

we departed nazareth on friday at 2pm. stopped at 6pm in harrisonburg va. at a hampton inn, which we got lost so you can probley take off another 10 min.:lmao: we hit the road at 3am on sat. morning. i pulled into the parking lot of the contemp. at 2:50 pm! i hit no traffic. nothing in jacksonville or orlando. i hit the left lane and follow the guy in front of me. i do know at one point, the town and county glides along very easily and dw looked over at the gps and i quote."DAVID!!!! YOUR GOING 92, SLOW DOWN!!!!":lmao: oops. like i said, i was following the flow of traffic. we stop about evey two hours or so for a restroom stop.(quick, we dont poke around)
now on the way home, it was almost 17 hours. we hit a bad wreck about 16 mies in pa on i81 and it generaly takes us about a half hour longer on the way home, we seem to stop more. (the excitement just isnt there going home.)

We're leaving Indiana at about the same time (3PM) and heading SE to I81, which we'll pick up in Winchester. That's about 3 hours. Staunton, VA (where my sister lives) is 4.5 hrs from home. From there to Charlotte is about another 3.5 with stops. That puts me south of Charlotte around 11:00 PM. My goal is Blytheville, SC by 12:30AM on Friday.

Now, if I get some zzzz's early in the trip, DW and I have discussed driving straight through and getting into our DTD hotel mid Friday morning. It's probably not going to happen, but it's a possibility.

Cheers,
Indy

staunton is about three hours 15 min. or so from me. your a bit more west than i am. i can drive straight through if we leave early in the am. im on the road for work at 4am so for me 3am is no big deal. i dont think i could do it over night. i could do it but for me i wouldd sleep when i got to wdw anyway. when our dd was little we would leave 5pm and drive through the night. then when you get there the next morning, we were dead tired and dd was wide awake and ready to go.:lmao:

Yeah, didn't think about that part.....maybe we will take a break overnight.

Now I don't feel so bad about our 20 hour drive from the same area you are coming from. We always both work the day we leave so we end up in a secure rest stop sometime during the night for a couple of hours shut-eye. All this time I am trying to figure out how you could possibly get there in 16 hours, unless you are way over the speed limit. We usually only go about 4 mph over, but your last 2 posts explain alot.

I can't see paying for a hotel room for only a couple of hours. I can rest my eyes just as good in the car with the seats back.

i dont make it a habit driving 92mph. i go with the flow. i find a running buddy and thats how fast or slow i drive. im not in the front. were people lose time is when you start stopping for meals, 2 miles down the road for gas and than hit the next rest stop to pee. which, if you have lots of time, or when i retire, ill putz around myself. the only reason i stop evey two hours or so for my dw. i can drive from gas station to gas station if i wanted to. :lmao:my normal trip, with no traffic, is 16 1/2 hours.

That's what I do too. When we drove down last summer I told the girls we found a "pace car"... stay a ways back but follow at their speed. Our friends at Disney said they call that person the "runner" so now I say... "We've found ourselves a runner". That way they're ahead and if anyone gets a ticket it will be them not me. I'm never the leader :)

its funny, theres alot of people who do it. before you know it, theres 4 of you. its easy to see, one moves into the right lane, they all move. without one, you can find yourself doing funny things.:lmao: the worst is when your runner pulls into the rest stop or gets off.:headache: now you got to find another one.:lmao: i use to have to do drive to ohio for work a few times a year. if anyone ever drove i80 across pa, you know what i mean. borrrringggg!!! its a 7 hour drive. i make one stop and thats after about 41/2 hours for gas.:lmao: as long as i dont drink alot, i could go for a long time.:thumbsup2

We were on a rural (but gorgeous new pavement!) highway in SC on our way to Myrtle Beach on the way home from Disney last summer and I couldn't find a speed limit sign anywhere! I putzed along behind another car for a while and then two big, jacked up pickup trucks with huge tires, several tall antennas and confederate flags in the back windows flew by :) I said girls we've got ourselves some good ole boy runners! We followed them almost all the way to where we had to get off- when they flew along so did I, when they pulled into the slow lane... so did I :) We got to our exit really fast :) Best runners of the whole trip!

O.K., we've got our reservations for October (Boardwalk) and December (Grand Floridian). And MNSSHP and MVMCP! See ya' all on the road.

All the best. :thumbsup2

We are in Winnipeg and our return trip is 6,750 kilometers or for the US folks 4,050 miles. We leave next friday evening and the drive will be 30 - 31 hours including stops with 3 drivers. This should be a breeze because usually we only have 2 drivers. I29 to I70 to I24, stop in Nashville at Loveless Cafe for dinner, to I75 and Orlando.

Once you complete your journey, provide your exact mileage. We have a feeling that you will establish the record for the longest round-trip drive. And, yes, we keep such records!

All the best. :thumbsup2
