If you could get either a morning fp and do AK open to afternoon then hop to another park, or get an afternoon fp for FoP and do AK afternoon to close (having been at another park in the morning), which would you pick and why?

We would pick the option where AK is morning. We do one table service restaurant for dinner every night and then just stay in that park in the evening. AK is never our evening park for that reason - we prefer other restaurants for dinner.

In April we had a mid afternoon FOP FP. We didn't rush in for rope drop because we had late morning FP for EE and the safari. Hit those, ate, went on the Caring for Giants tour and enjoyed some animal trails all before FOP....then left the park. If you don't get a morning FOP FP, you may still want to start in AK as you won't be able to make advance FP for whatever park you start in otherwise.

I was thinking if we did afternoon fp at AK, we could maybe rope drop another park and get some things done, then head back to the resort during the heat of the day (we’ll be there 7/29-8/2). Then do AK after that.
Or if we can get fp for morning, do rope drop anyway and stay at AK until it’s too hot, head to resort for a while, then hit probably EP.
We haven’t been to AK in about 15 years, and I just don’t know what the best option would be.

We had a 1:00 fast pass for FoP. We made the choice to start our day there in the morning. That way we were able to do FoP at rope drop with a short wait and then ride it again with our fast pass. After that we used our park hopper to leave and go to another park.

Always book fast passes in the morning so you can book more that day. People who say mid day to night to see pandora.. well u can always head back after 7 to see all the nightlife and maybe snag a night safari or some Everest fps.

Never having done fp+, I’m quite nervous about the whole process. I’ve read some on the fp sticky, and been watching YouTube videos all day.
That said, for a 5 day ticket, is it better to look for a fop fp on day 5 first, or doesn’t it matter?

I looked for a fop for first and landed on 60+5 but i would plan out your days around all the places u want to go. And have a backup plan. I had all the parks we wanted to go to on which days which fps and times we wanted and since fop was not on our AK day I moved the extra Epcot day to ak once I grabbed my fop fp. So have a plan but don't have the later days set in stone always be able to switch things around if you really want fop.

How about for FoP at AK?
Is there only one way to go there at rope drop, or is there also a “better” way to go?

I would do AK in the morning. You can get a lot done before it gets crowded. Spend the afternoon at the resort or another park. You can either come back for RoL or a different park for the evening show.
