Yes, just let the cm know. You can go into the pre show with your family. Then as your family exits the pre show to get on their banshee, you just keep walking out towards the exit. You can wait for your family right outside the exit door.
I did the chicken exit last October. I walked through the line with our friends and when we arrived at the part where you get on the "motorcycles" I just kept walking through the room. I waited just outside the room, just a few steps from where they were doing the ride. Several other people were there, too, along with a cast member. It was a lot better than hanging outside, waiting for everyone to finish.
I can’t ride it either but I’m going at the end of April and going to sit on the banshee and keep my eyes closed. My cousin keeps talking about a certain smell so with eyes closed I’ll learn what she’s talking about!
Let the CM know that you just want to do the pre-show and not the ride. They will likely tell you just to stand next to one of your family members during the pre-shows and not assign you one of the banshee numbers. It will keep things moving. A woman and her mom were in front of me in line last time I rode and the mom just wanted to see the pre-show so the CM assigned the daughter number 1, told the mom to stand next to her throughout the pre-shows and kept assigning the rest of the numbers/spaces in order. Then the CM led her to the exit when we were all getting settled onto our banshees. It was no issue at all.
