Sorry but I only know the WDW dining plan, does DLR have a plan that is similar or how do theirs work?

If you were not on a plan, how much would you plan on to spend for a family for a meal at a counter service?

What about the character meals, how much do they run?

Disneyland Dining plan is totally different, and not worth it IMO. You get vouchers to use in the park, but if you buy something that costs $4.50 and use a $5 voucher, you loose $.50. If you only have $10 vouchers left, you pay out of pocket or loose $5.50!!

Check out allears.net for current dining menus and prices for character meals, counter and table service restaurants in both parks, all hotels, and DTD.

ETA: If you like to prepay for meals, you can always put that $$ on Disney giftcards.

On our last big trip in July we preloaded $$ on a disney giftcard to use for meals. It was soo nice to not have to keep lots of cash in my wallet all of the time. We did not use it for churros or popcorn (we didn't even ask if we could). I reloaded the card a couple of times and have used the remaining balance on quick day trips to the park.

This is one of the best tips :woohoo:

I've never done the dining plan but to answer your question regarding the cost of meals, expect to spend about $10 per person at a counter service. As for character meals...they are about $30 for breakfast/brunch and slightly more at Goofy's Kitchen as they have a bigger variety of food (and IMO tastes the best). BTW, these are all adult prices. I also believe that they change the prices of character dining during peak seasons. The best thing to do is to call Disney Dining at (714) 781-3463 and inquire about the prices for the dates that you are going.

When we went in June we seemed to average about $25 for counter service meals for the 3 of us and we usually would only buy for 2 and share. We didn't like ANY of the counter service places we ate it, we tried (names may be slightly wrong sorry) Red Rocket Pizza, the mexican place in DL, the place across from Nemo next to where they do the Jedi Training, the place by Princess Faire and I'm sure there are a couple more. They were all terrible, the worst was the place by Nemo, yuck! I was so disappointed. We learned that the food is way better if you do sit down and it's just a few dollars more at most. The best was Carnation Cafe YUMMMMM!!! Our fav snacks were Dole Whips, the pickles, and DH liked the turkey leg. We spent alot of money on food that wasn't really good. Even the Denny's was really bad, but that's ok, you're having too much fun to notice :)

:sick:Whatever you do, please, I repeat please do not eat at the Denny's that is located in Anaheim - Fullerton. It is about 5 miles from Dl. :scared1:
The result for me is best left to one's imagination than being realized, believe you me. I wrote a little ditty of a review for another thread, if I can find it, I will post it again, or the link.
