Food & Wine & Friends, or 'Wishing a Year Away'. October 2012 PTR *NEW 11/18 TR link!

Yay for double digits! Hopefully May will get here quickly!

The wedding shower looked really nice; I thought the invitations and the cake were cute. Glad it was a success!:thumbsup2

The friends that we are going on this trip with (codenames Hilde and Sebastian) spotted a Hidden Mickey in our house that we didn't even realize we put there. We then decided that we're going to work HMs into all the rooms in our house. I'm kind of a HM fanatic and think this will be AMAZING! :cool1:

Ok, I totally saw a hidden Mickey in one of the decoration pictures. The one with the three ornaments hanging in front of a window. Obsessed much, me?... :rolleyes1

Decorations looked great! I hope she enjoyed it. :goodvibes

Haha, I did notice that! A friend hung them, so I know it wasn't intentional- just meant to be!

I'm glad to hear the shower was a success! Everything looked great! :thumbsup2

And yay for double digits for the May trip! :woohoo:

I'm glad the shower is over! :rotfl: But I was also very happy that it was a good time for everyone!

I love the yarn theme for the shower - everything looks so nice! :goodvibes

Thank you!

Such cute decorations, and an awesome cake, too (love the knight in shining armor)! Looks like it was a smashing success!

Isn't that neat? My brother actually designed their save-the-dates (he did mine, too) and we used that picture for the cake!

Yay for double digits! Hopefully May will get here quickly!

Thank you! I CAN'T wait for May!!!!!!!!!!!

The cake is adorable. I love the hidden mickey made of yarn ;)

Yay for double digits!

Thank you very much!!

Except now Ben can't remember where that HM was...

Cute shower! I like the unique theme (and the hidden mickey of course)! It looks like you did a great job!

Too funny that he is ready to go back! You don't get as much done with young'uns there, but it is so much fun to travel with kids, especially if it is their first time!

The shower looks adorable, the decorations are really pretty! :thumbsup2 Love the Hidden Mickey! :woohoo: And yay for double digits for your May trip!

Hi Joyce! :wave2: I'm (finally) here and I made it through all 20 pages. All the plans for May AND October sound awesome, though I am still bummed that you and Ben will get there the day after Franklin and I leave.

P.S. We have a TIW card and LOVE it! Totally worth it for more than one trip.

Great job with the decor!! That cake is amazing-- your brother is super talented! Is he an artist or graphic designer?? Ooo, bachelorette party! Fun-- what are you planning?!
Kids/teens can certainly change the...pace of a trip, for sure! I'm glad Mark has going away with you to look forward to!

Thank you! I just brought everything over to her house because she wants to use some of it for the wedding- I guess that means she likes it!

Mark's texts to me during his trip were pretty funny... he was definitely frustrated. But I saw pictures and they did have fun!

Everything was decorated so beautifully!

And :woohoo::woohoo: for your trip being so close. :goodvibes

Thank you, Ann!

Welcome aboard!! There is still plenty to come in PTR fun! We are closing in on the best part of planning- hours for May should be out in a couple-ish months :goodvibes

Ugh, to be so close to our trips overlapping :headache: I hope someday we'll get to meet!

He's a cartoonist in the New York Times: Brian McFadden (The Strip is in the Sunday Review) He also has his own comic, Big Fat Whale. He's super talented!

The bachelorette party is probably going to be your typical drinks/dinner, naughty games type thing. I wanted to go for something a little different (a tour of Fenway or a murder mystery dinner), but didn't get great feedback from the other bridesmaids on those ideas.

Hello!! I've been missing for awhile and haven't back tracked in your PTR but I will soon! So jealous you have a trip coming up in May! October is still SOOO FAR away!

First the shower looks fantastic! So happy it went well and she loved the decrations!

Second, love your ideas for the bachelorette party, sorry the other girls want to keep it much more traditional, but it will still be fun. I had my bachelorette party in provincetown (wedding was on the Cape) and we went to dinner and then a Drag Queen show. It was hilarious!

Vieques is definitely our most chill vacation!

My shelter is open-admission, which means we don't turn anyone away and take in animals that are not adoptable: Sometimes people bring us animals with severe medical or behavioral problems that would not be appropriate to place. But adoptable animals can stay with us until they find homes!

I can't wait for October flights to be out! It will make plans so much more real :goodvibes

Yup, Vieques was only fairly recently opened up for travel, and certain parts are still off limits. It's been 6 years since we've been there, so I am curious to see if it is still as natural as it was then!

I will definitely do a mini-TR when we get back from PR!

Ah yeah that's great about the shelter! I know that some animals just aren't adoptable and understand that, but it just breaks my heart to hear of some putting perfectly healthy animals down just due to lack of space. My mom recently retired from her government job, went back to school to be a vet tech, and has since seen so many things that she wished she hadn't. Mainly a lot of pet owners bringing their perfectly healthy animals in to be put down just for being too much to handle, or for some other asinine reason. It's so gross.

Anyway sorry to hijack regarding treatment of animals...just really pisses me off!

Can't wait to hear all about vieques!

I'm glad you're back!

May is definitely helping me keep it together waiting for October! But before too long, Oct hours will be out, and we'll be booking ADRs- that'll help the time go by!

I love the sounds of your bachelorette! It's funny- when I mentioned that I had literally one possible weekend I could do this party, I also mentioned that if someone else wanted to take over the planning for a different day (cause I don't want to plan a party I can't go to), not a single person piped up. So they want me to do the work, but they don't like my ideas :confused3

Haha, venting there- I've been frustrated soooo many times by my fellow bridesmaids in the planning of this wedding!

I totally sympathize with your mom- I have learned that the 'average pet owner' can be completely ridiculous with expectations of their pets.. but luckily I also get to see some really great people who adopt animals and give them amazing homes.

In just a little over a week, I will be relaxing away in tropical Vieques! I am so, so, so ready for some beach time! Of course, I can't help but think about how when this trip is over, WDW is that much closer. This Disney addiction is a disease, I tell you! :rotfl:

The May trip is all set and squared away- ADRs are made, park days are done. All I need is for the calendar to start moving!

October is a different story, because there is still much up in the air: will we be able to switch resorts? Will we end up with a split stay? What are the park hours and will my tentative plans work with them? Then of course there are the ADRs we want..

I sent Hilde the link to Disney Food Blog and like me, she spent the better part of a day reading it. Now she has added Norway school bread to the list of must dos (it's on mine, too!) and has requested we try to fit in a meal in Mexico- but she didn't specify which restaurant (I'm sure she had no idea there were more than one: it is clear who is the certifiable DISfreak weirdo in this group :rotfl2: ), so I'm waiting to see what she says. The only way to do this would be to give up some F&W time... but I suppose she and her DH could eat in Mexico while Ben and I graze the festival...

I've also started to think about T-shirts I want to make for us and that sort of thing. I'll probably end up coming up with some stuff to give them leading up to the trip to get them amped up. (I can't wait for the final few weeks leading up to this trip- that is always the best part!!)
The four of us already came up with an idea for a 'Family Vacation Shirt' that will be epic if we pull it off.

So jealous you will be at the beach in a week! :snooty: :rotfl:

I just went through your day by day plans for May to see if any of our park days match up, and I can't figure out what day is what! :scared1: Although, I have to go through my itinerary again and change a few things around, since I switched resorts again! And I'm having a difficult time with ADR's. I feel like every Disney trip I'm on it will be my last, so I try to squeeze so much stuff in!

It sounds like this is going to be a fun year for you. Beach.. Disney.. Disney. I bet you are getting excited about all of them. :goodvibes

Haha, Here are the cliff notes:
5/6 Arrive, AK during the day, MK EMH at night
5/7 MK morning, Epcot afternoon/evening
5/8 Studios
5/9 MK morning, Epcot for dinner. Possibly seeing Yee Haw Bob at POR this night
5/10 Epcot, go home :(

It sounds like this is going to be a fun year for you. Beach.. Disney.. Disney. I bet you are getting excited about all of them. :goodvibes

I am so excited for our travels! And there will be a long weekend in New Orleans squeezed in; I'm going to tag along with Ben on a work trip :goodvibes

:woohoo: For the Vieques trip being so close!! Before you know it you will be on that beach :yay:

I can't wait to be booking ADR's! I'm planning for a 2 week trip and I still don't think that's enough time for all the places I want to eat! Especially with F&W events to attend as well!!
