We are planning on a trip in October. The F&WF is totally new for me. I have no idea how it works. What type of food is normal? What are the average prices? We are more than likely going to do the DDP. Do the snacks work for the F&WF? Any and all help would be great! Thanks in advance for all your help guys! :thumbsup2

Snack credits will work at the kiosks - 1 snack credit for 1 item - eligible items are marked with DDP. However, most kiosks offer at least 2 offerings with a number offering 3 different items. There are about 30 different kiosks around the World Showcase. Items range from around $3 to $6. If you really want to try a majority of the items, you should be prepared to pay out of pocket.
We do F&W each year, but do out of pocket. We go just for F&W and divide the World Showcase into 3 or 4 sections doing one each day for lunch. Hubby and I order 1 of each item offered and split them. Most items are 2-6 bites but with the variety and amount of items we do get enough to make a meal and are quite full each day.

I don't usually do this self-promotion thing, but you may actually find our Food & Wine Fest dining report useful.

Some of the dishes stay the same year-over-year, and we did a pretty good job at getting at least one thing from every booth this time around. You should get a pretty good idea about what to expect.

As far as prices are concerned, expect to pay a fair amount out of pocket. Even on the dining plan, you're going to run out of credits pretty quickly, at which point you'll be on a cash plan. The dishes are small, but they add up, especially if you partake of the drinks available, too (and you should!). I'd recommend setting aside at least $40-$50 per person for every day you plan on spending in Epcot touring the booths, more if you plan on drinking just as much as you eat.

Thank you so much for the link to your review! It was great! I am a very picky eater, so I am afraid that I would pass on most of the wonderful things you tried. My DH on the other hand will be on cloud nine. The kids and I may have to leave him in WS for an afternoon. heehee. ;)

Actually, the festival is a great way for "picky" eaters to venture out and try some new things to expand the palate. Have your DH get some dishes and you all take a bite. If you expose your kids to some of this now they may not become picky adults like you are...;)

I too am a picky eater - no fish, no beef (yuck!) - and I loved the food at F&W. Canadian Cheddar Soup, linguica, bunny chow, pulled pork sliders - it was all so yummy. DH tried so many things. We kept track of our food sampling in the little food passports that they had. DH & I spent 2 full days at F&W and used every snack credit there. We enjoyed the sampling so much we weren't hungry and had extra QS credits, which allowed DH to have breakfast every morning. There are also demos and other events going on at the festival center. They will post the full calendar online.

I agree with the other posters. There's so much variety and the dishes are just the right size for sharing. It's a great opportunity to try to expand your horizons. Start off with dishes that feature ingredients that you know that ou like, but might be prepared a bit differently than you're used to or feature an ingredient or two with which you're unfamiliar.

Once you get your festival legs, maybe get a bit more adventurous. As long as you have your husband on whom to pass off the things that you really don't care for, I think you'll have a great time.

Also, you can let the kids indulge in a little extra dessert dining, if you'd like. Every booth has at least one dessert item. It would be a great way to keep them interested in something that they might otherwise view as a more adult experience (read: boring).
