Food & Wine Festival dates for 2011

Oh I loved this last time we went.

The extra smells as you walk around the World Showcase are almost intoxicating, and the chance to try many new foods that you wouldn't normally have the opportunity to is great :goodvibes

I really want to try it properly this year. We managed 2 booths the first night and were full  This time I am going to make sure we don't eat anything before we go. We have QSDP again and so it is a good way to burn all those snack credits. We ended up with about 45 left when we got to the last few days and had a real time trying to spend them all.

Any recommendations from the last time you went? Most of the booths apparently stay fairly similar from one year to the next.

We love food and wine...we are planning on not booking a TS resturant on the day we do food and wine just so we have more room to try things.

We loved the cheddar cheese soup, lamb and DH loved the sushi

Can't wait to try more this year:thumbsup2

I am really excited about going to F&W for the first time this year :) would love to hear any tips

Pick up the food and wine guide when you enter the parks. They are with the park maps and you can see what is on offer and where the various booths are so you can prioritise.

Don't book any ADRs that day or order any CS meals - or any other snacks for that matter - if you want to make the most of what the booths have to offer.

Order different items and just one of each .... and share! You will be amazed how easy it is to fill up on these deceptively small portions.

Have fun!

We are planning to go Oct 1-8. Are the crowds terrible for F&W when it first starts? I'm starting to second guess our dates!!

Another tip is to check out the Disney Food Blog a month or two in advance, as they devote a section to it as information gets released by Disney. They detail all the booths, items, events etc etc :thumbsup2

Apparantly, the afternoon and evening of opening day (Friday 30th), opening weekend and then the subsequent weekends are quite hectic and you may want to avoid those. From what I've read the weekdays are fine though :goodvibes

No they really aren't bad at all, especially the first week. It definitely picked up in the second week though, but that was true for general crowd levels at all the parks.

Try and do the WS in the morning as soon as it opens. The general advice is to avoid it on weekends, specifically Friday nights, all day Saturday and Sunday during the day. Our first day there was a Sunday and although the WS felt pretty packed, the wait times and queues in the parks were minimal. It was really crowds in the walkways and that seemed to be it. Even the queues for the food booths werent that bad.

It was never crowded during lunch time, regardless of whether it was opening week end or any other day. We have lunch starting at 11AM when the food booths open. At most there were 5 or 6 people in line, but the lines move very quickly. We were a group of 3 adults who shared everything between us so that we could try many things.

Besides the food booths there are many other things to see or do. Here's a link to last year's F&W activities:

Was thinking the same thing, Rick Springfield last year was fantastic.

I think they were announced in mid April last year. I am sure the dates were available earlier the year before but stand to be corrected on that one. Not long now.

We're really looking forward to f & w, we've never been before (we've been in disney when it's been on but for some reason we haven't been around the WS at that time :confused3)

The Disney Vacation Club kiosk has "menus" for each country. They are nice little booklets and you can check off, what you sample. Definitely, makes the kaos, a bit more manageable.
