Food That Underwhelms You...

A couple of months ago I made the decision to change my lifestyle and only eat healthy foods - no more fried foods, no red meat, and increase fruits and vegetables.

I always thought I liked fish but as it turns out, I like fried batter and if it happens to have a little fish inside I can deal with that! Fish cooked any other way? No thank you - it tastes like fish! My family thinks I'm crazy when I make grilled fish and then refuse to eat it. They think it's delish!

I also discovered after leaving off red meat for a while, when I tried it again I could not eat it and couldn't believe I ever did! Nasty stuff!

You should try to put a smear of peanut butter on one of the graham crackers. That's how we've always done it when we camp, that way they're sweet & salty. :thumbsup2

Brilliant!!! Will definitely try this next time I think I should give smores a try again!

Turkey-- like the big roasted Turkey at Thanksgiving... it's boring-- but seems to be the star of the show..:confused3

I'm not a steak fan. Maybe eat it once or twice a year, prefer other types of meat or fish.

LOL - this is so true! Load my plate up with the other stuff - why would I waste room with turkey when there's so much other good stuff on the table! I'll eat the turkey for sandwiches later though.

My meatloaf (any meatloaf). My family raves about my meatloaf and my mom requests it everytime she visits.:confused3 I don't undrstand the appeal at all (maybe it's the crack I bake into it). I think it's blech and the funny thing is they think I have a special recipe, but I just made it up one night.

Maybe try pixie dust instead of crack? Bet that'll make it taste better for you!

Birds scare me. The "carcass" my mom uses to make soup is just too ick to look at. Sliced, with no bones in sight, I can eat it but in general I don't eat a lot of fowl.

I have a food allergy so normally I'm willing to continue eating anything that's corn free and I don't have to make myself - even bone free bird. I really can't think of anything... but that's probably more related to laziness than dislike.

Watermelon. Now that summer is upon us, I feel like it's everywhere, and I have to be that weird girl that doesn't like it. To me it tastes like sugar water.

Lot's of funny comments!!

Now don't get me wrong, I don't dislike or have an aversion to tacos or shish kebob. I just get all excited thinking I'm going to love those particular meals and I'm just so bored with them. Ho-hum. Don't want to waste the effort anymore.

But I just feel like I should be loving them. In theory, both tacos and shish kebob sound delicious!! My daughter LOVES tacos. MsDisney23 loves them enough that she posted a thread about eating them today. Makes me want them. Then I make them and I'm so *underwhelmed* and disappointed. Each and every time. I can't say I don't like the food though. Does that make sense?

I guess I also feel that way about turkey too!!

Steak...any kind cooked any way (rare to well done, seasoned or unseasoned).

I'd rather have a hamburger any day of the week. My DH thinks I must be from another planet:lmao::confused3

I'm the same way! If I have to have steak at someone else's house or something I put ketchup on it, and everyone is in shock. They can't believe I would ruin a good steak with ketchup. :rotfl:

I do love hamburgers though. :confused3

what gets me is everyone is like "try this- it's not fishy". There are a lot of foods that are not fishy at all because they are NOT fish!
I'll stick to those. Having said that, I do love raw tuna and sushi with raw tuna. Never like it cooked, though !

Smores. I feel like I should like them, but they are too sweet with not enough of a distinct flavor to make all that sweet taste good. Maybe if it had a salty componant to tone it down, like if there was a pretzel involved, it might be ok!

I haven't had a smore in years on a graham cracker. We have - since the 70's - used saltine crackers. It cuts way down on the sweet and give you that needed salty requirement.

Everybody whoever camped with us, knew that if they wanted a good ol smore, then they would need to bring the graham crackers, cause you wouldn't find any in our camper.

Spaghetti. I spend hours making it (well, it makes itself, but you get my point...), I add fresh vegetables, expensive beef, good sauce, and serve it over perfect noodles. Still, I am always like, "Blah." DH loves it, so I guess that is all that matters!

Creme Brulee

It takes like custard pie with caramelized sugar and without the yummy pastry crust. I can't see paying $8 for it.

But I LOVE sushi!

Me, too. My MIL is ga-ga for it and if we go out to dinner with my in-laws she always points it out and suggests it to me if it is on the dessert menu, but I just don't like it. So very bland.

wings. What on earth is the crazy fascination with wings!? They are messy, annoying, and take far too much effort for far too little meat on each one. Honestly they are mostly bone! What's the point? Give me a chicken finger any day over a wing - no bones, lots more chicken, lots less effort. There are better things i can do for excercise than fighting with a wing while eating dinner (then again, maybe many wing eaters only get excercise whilst struggling with said wings...)

ita!

amen! my SIL served hot wings at my DN's graduation party last year, and seriously, i tried one, and there was no meat on it! WTH is the point of eating chicken that has no chicken on it?
