Food Storage Question

We are planning on camping at the Fort in early October. Since we have a rather small camper and will be staying for about 10 days, we will have lots of extras, with little room to spare. Any suggestions on food storage? We thought about those plastic bins with locking handles and putting them outside. I'm not sure they will keep outside in the heat/humidity. What have others done, with small campers or tents. Any issues with food getting raided by the critters, bread getting moldy from the humidity?:scared1:

not sure if this will work for you, but I use a cooler. even if the items don't need to be chilled, I've found that it seals a little better than those plastic tubs.

For dry, non-refrigerated items the totes should work well. For things needing to be refrigerated or frozen, we freeze as much as practical before leaving and place in a cooler. Where I have electricity, I take a dorm style mini refigerator. I have an old stand up one (about 3 ft tall) that has a small freezer section. I stick it outside the camper door under the awning.

We have gone to The Fort in August quite a few times and have used the rubbermaid containers. They seem to be heavier than the sterlite brand. Everything has stayed freshed and we have not any problems.

The Fort dose have its share of critters. We left our bread out one night and I heard a commotion and looked up just in time to see a raccoon haling off the whole loaf. We keep stuff in bends but remember to bungee down the lids down

:rotfl:we saw this same thing camping last weekend. We were on our way to the restroom and caught him red-handed in the middle of the road. He took off without his treasure. Since nobody was going to eat it anyway we just tossed it over to him. He looked like he had done that a few times, judging by the size of his spare tire!

We do the dorm style mini refigerator too. You can buy them with built in locks on them.
mainly keep beer in mine,,(and my secret stash of cookies).

HEY ! Just like the kids in the dorms !!:lmao:

Ever had people steal your beer out the the 'frige? I haven't at the fort, but every time I go to a race, I seem to "drink" a lot more than I remember. I'm sure someone is taking it at night. At least that's the story I'm sticking to. :lmao:
