Ok I'm a snacker and I'm on a budget and my BF and are going to DL and DCA, so I was trying to think of things I could get in a back pack and that would get passed the bag check.I was think like granola bars and oatmeal cream pies (my fav) and my 100 calorie cookie and chip packs....
Can I get stuff like that passed the security guys or do they not really care?
Any help would be awesome :)
Thanks Diser's

We've packed things like that, as well as bottled water and juice boxes. Didn't try to conceal them or anything, had them in the top of the backpack right when they zip it open...it wasn't a problem at all.

We often take snacks to the park.....granola bars, small chip bags, etc. and there has never been a problem and we've never had to try to "hide" it - it was always in a visible place. I have heard that you can bring in food as long as it's already prepared. For example, you can make sandwiches and bring them but you can't just bring a loaf of bread, lunchmeat and cheese and hope to assemble them later. You are also allowed to bring a cooler I think but you have to put it in a locker. Oh, and as OP said, bottled water is good to bring. It costs around $3 for one in the park and so you can save a lot by bringing your own.

We asked security what they look for and they said they check for weapons, pepper spray, guns etc. Of course they don't want people walking in with huge Subway bags or large pizzas, you are safe with normal foods in a backpack or soft cooler.

This is a great question. We normally don't do this, but intend on it this year. I have a feeling it will save us quite a bit of $. I wonder what DL's official policy is. I will have to look it up later. My friend goes annually, and she always brings snacks and juices into the park. She said she's never had an issue with it. It would still be interesting to find out, especially since I am considering packing picnic lunches this winter.

Official policy is no outside food or beverages, but Disney has a history of contrasting "Official" and "working" policies. Working policy is that the security check ignores snacks, sandwiches, and plastic bottles of water or soft drinks. They won't let you bring in a hard sided cooler or a rolling cooler, but a soft sided one should be fine.

OT, another contrasting policy is the return window on FastPass times. Most people think you have to get back and ride the ride during the window on the ticket, i.e. 1:40-2:40 p.m. Not true. It's good till the end of the day. They will not blink an eye if you present your FP at 11 p.m.

They don't really care. I've brought in turkey sands, PB&J, crackers, fruit, soda. Sack lunch stuff. No problems.

You can bring just about anything. No glass and no hard sided coolers or sandwich fixings. But you can bring in snacks, water or soda in plastic bottles, ready made sandwiches. You won't have any issues getting thru security.

so my 12# turkey and deep fryer is out of the question :) ?

mmmm, yeah, probably, especially since you'd have to bring all that oil in and dispose of it!

But in the last 6 months I saw a picture someone took of a family inside DCA, sitting outside the bakery and ice cream place in the train cars, eating a full bucket meal from KFC, and I even think huge drinks were included. :scared:

We even take in Taco Bell!!! No questions asked... Ever. I can also say food allergies.

I thought I was the only one who still loves the oatmeal cookie pies with the creme filling. Yummo!;)

They mostly look for glass and alcohol. The rest is okay - within reason, of course.

Have a great trip.:)

Haha, I love the title of this thread. It's funny :) Go ahead & bring your snacks and drinks! As other DISer's here have said, just don't bring anything glass or weapons... duh ! Why would you anyway?! :)

Yeah, food smuggling! I'm an illegal granola bar pirate! pirate:

Kinda like food porn. If you don't smuggle in the food, you have to take pictures of the food you order in the parks and post it here, so we can drool over it. :yay:

I think some people just don't think. We saw a person having to guzzle a bottled frappucino drink at bag check. I doubt they even thought about it; were probably just drinking their morning drink and brought it with them.

As for weapons, who knows why, but I'm sure there are people who do! One of hubby's friends carries his gun with him just about everywhere it's legal, and if he didn't stop to think about it, he might very well (if he's licensed in CA, that is) walk in with it. Then again, he knows that I don't want him around my son with the gun on him, so if he were going with us he'd know that already.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on that. :)

hahah 'this is my mace..in case anyone jumps ahead of me in line..or gets too close in line..or touches me in line'

Yup- as others have said you can bring in all food except a hard cooler or glass containers/bottles. My husband and I have to go on a budget and we always bring in PB&J and then snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, crackers, trail mix etc. And we ALWAYS bring our own water bottles. Keep in mind that if you go anywhere like the bakery or ice cream shop, you can ask for a cup of ice water (tap) and they will give it to you free.

You can freeze your water bottles to keep your lunch cool...but don't store your camera by it in the bag- we ended up with condensation on the lens and didn't realize it till we took a few pictures! Haha, it wiped right off though.
