Ok all you disers I just used my food saver on all my toiletries! It worked so well. I packed all my clothes and placed all my vacuumed sealed stuff in between. Yea! This was the most genius thing I have ever done. Now No leaks. I will tell you that sealing baby wipes is a BAD idea, it actually pops. YIKES! But everything else from toothpaste to shampoo, ect....good luck y'all.

Oh thanks! I have been debating buying a foodsaver just for home use - but this sort of tips me over the edge :rotfl2:

I did this wiht Diapers and it made them much more compact. i think i might try my toiletries too!

Trust me you want to buy one of these, I vacummed sealed my son's clothes too, WAY COOL! I also have a laminator and laminated all my important docs, safe safe safe, if only I could take it w/ me. :rotfl:

I agree this is a great idea - but are you taking the foodsaver with you? If not, what are you doing on the way home? I put everything in zip-type bags - sandwich, quart and gallon. I write on them with a Sharpie and reuse them trip after trip. (Yes, I'm thrifty!)

I do the ziplocs also in various sizes. And I reuse them until they are destroyed by my small person--aka DS--or gross. I use them for makeup, shower stuff, anything liquid. DS has a toiletry bag that is a gallon size ziploc, quart size for wipes, and gallon size for diapers. Also a gallon size for his ColorWonder markers and coloring books.

Extremely handy!! Also extras are great for wet/soiled clothes in DS's diaper bag (which is a backpack).

Because we are so good w/ the packing thing, we never end up bringing toiletries home. We also take every size ziplocs too that is a must do...they are so handy. No I will not be taking the food Saver...it is way to important to me at home, I would be afraid it would break EEEEK!

Vac sealing is good for the trip down because you do not want to get there and find out your stuff broke and your clothes are all messed up, or you have no shampoo....ect. On the way home if it broke I would not be as upset so you really don't have to seal it a ziploc bag works ok.

I don't have a food saver, but I have put our clothes in a garbage bag and vacuumed the air out. After quickly tying the end, I put it in the suitcase and closed it up. I was amazed at how much I could pack. When I arrived at the hotel, I saw that air had seeped back into the bag, but it worked great. The bag was sealed up in the suitcase, so there were no problems.

My husband is obsessed with our Food Saver. Not sure if I would seal my toiletries. I am more likely to just throw them in ziploc bags. More power to you though :)
