My family and I will be going on our first Disney Cruise toward the beginning of March and I would love to know food recommendations from anyone who would like to share their favorites. TIA

Search some of the threads on here! There are a bunch dedicated to everyone’s favorite foods on board. I love the soufflé and steak in Palo for dinner :) Also Mickey bars wherever I can get them!

My personal favorite on the ships is crème brulee from the main dining rooms! The classic one is usually on the rotational dining menu in Lumieres/Tritons/Royal Court and is excellent. If your cruise is longer keep an eye out for other flavors!

Another favorite of mine is skipping Cabanas and eating breakfast/lunch at the rotational restaurants is always a favorite of mine too! Don't forget the peel and eat shrimp from Cabanas - always a great poolside snack!

I’m going to guess that just like the restaurant forum on here, for everything that someone loves, someone else will hate.

IMHO if something looks/sounds good to you, try it. Let your taste buds be your guide!

The best piece of advice I have is not to be afraid to try new things AND to order more than one of each item from each category. Not condoning being wasteful, but DH and I often eat a super light lunch so that we can eat more at dinner :D So usually between us we will order an extra appy and extra entree... the portions aren't massive so it's manageable, if a little indulgent.

My recommendation is to try new things, especially things you wouldn't try at home or pay money for if you're not sure if you would like it. My teenager just did a cruise where she ate all seafood, that was fun. We don't get enough of it in Ohio. Treat dinner as an adventure, especially with kids.
And you can be flexible with menu, order 2 appetizers instead of an app and a salad. Or just one and save room for dessert.

Mushroom risotto, I hate mushrooms and don't really care for risotto, but this was soooo good. Had it at a Anyone can cook activity on the Wonder. If your cruise is 7+ nights, go to the Anyone can cook activities. Offered on sea days, place/time will be listed in the navigator.

Each night your server will give you recommendations of what he/she considers best (I don't know if it's their personal recommendations or what they're told). Obviously, you have to go with what your own preferences are (I'm allergic to a number of foods so that impacts my choices) but I have to say that they really do often know what they're talking about. If you don't like it, they'll find something else. After all, it's not like they're trying to talk you into a more expensive entree as you might suspect in a regular restaurant. They do see and hear what people order and the comments that they have. Same with wine if you want a glass at dinner. I always order the wine that is recommended to be paired with the entree - I do find that they do a really good job of selection. Some of the entrees, such as the lighter items that are provided as alternates to the regular menu, do not have a recommended pairing and I've never gone wrong by asking the server to suggest something that pairs nicely.

my recommendation is don't expect too much

face it, in the dining rooms you are eating 'banquet food' .....

you'll do a lil better in the 'special places' like Palo but it ain't gonna hit a point like a really good place in a big city (or occasionally a not so big city)

TRUE - try different things with no fear of being charged ... order one of everything and decide what you like ....

but the days of GOOD FOOD, on most cruise ships, died LONG ago ......

cruise a ship that has under 200 pass' and THAT's a different story.

At the sandwich and salad counter, there's a Tomato Brie Bacon panini that is to die for...

Chocolate Soufflé from Palo...

Grand Marnier Soufflé from the MDR...

I liked the Champagne pursettes at Animator's Palate and the Chateaubriand Steak at Triton's.

Other than that the food in the MDR is not that awesome but I've had good meals.

My best DCL meals were in Palo & Remy.

I recommend not to ear too much...you may end up really sick with indigestion half way through. Pace yourself,
