Food questions- grilled cheese and milkshakes? Waitlist chances?

Planning out the last few details of our trip- this Wednesday through Sunday. We are so excited! First trip since 2017. I know dining will be a challenge for us- we are a group of 6 or 7 depending on the day, we don't have any reservations, the parks look to be full and we have a picky little eater. I've got some random questions if anyone knows.

1. Where can we find grilled cheese? I have looked at a lot of menus and only see it at Jolly Holiday.
2. Same Q- milkshakes. I see Flo's. And other frosty treats at Schmoozies. Anywhere else?
3. Very random- but where might we be able to order a side of bacon?
4. If we'd like to try for some of the full restaurants is the best bet to show up right at opening and try to get in? Any chance for such a large party?

We have dining alerts set, but I haven't been able to grab anything.

I think our food strategy will be to bring lots of safe foods for the picky eater, order ahead for counter service (and perhaps try to eat at off times so we can find tables), and maybe join waitlists. Any other tips?

Smokejumpers has milkshakes and I believe the Ghiradelli Soda shop does as well. In DTD there are also milkshakes at Black Tap and Jamba Juice with smoothies.

I don't remember seeing grilled cheese at any other places than Jolly Holiday. We did get a quesadilla at Tortilla Jo's.

I can sympathize as I have a very picky eater. I had notes on my phone of every place that had pasta or pizza (he won't do grilled cheese, nuggets, or mac & cheese). We supplemented that with pretzels, churros, and beignets and a good breakfast every morning (he'll do scrambled eggs).

Good luck!

Thanks, that’s helpful! So strange to not have more grilled cheese around- at least at the burger places!

And I had totally forgotten about the black tap milkshakes….. that would be a fun treat!

Its not in park, but La Brea bakery has a delicious grilled cheese my picky eater really enjoyed. Had the option of fruit vs fries, which I appreciated. It’s very close to both parks as its at the front of Downtown Disney.

There is a cheese-based Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans, but assuming that would be a no-go as its fancy cheese.

Does your little like quesadillas? Tortilla Joe’s in DTD made my 5-year old a plain cheese quesadilla when we were there in December.

EDIT: forgot about bacon! For breakfast you get a side of bacon again at La Brea during breakfast as well as at Pyms Test Kitchen in DCA during breakfast and Tangora Terrace at the Disneyland hotel (but thats out of the way). We have a rule on vacation that I wont say no to how much bacon my 3boys want, which is why I know this. LOL

So helpful! Thanks everyone.

And, no, he doesn’t eat quesadillas. Because apparently melted cheese is ok with bread, but not tortillas. He’ll eat plain tortillas, though. We’ll get through, but this is super helpful! Sometimes he tries new things in new situations, so you never know!

We’ll pack string cheese and fruit for our emergency hangry line moments.

Other things that we are bringing for our kids with food allergies:

juice boxes for when the sugar drops and we have a meltdown
Applesauce
Raisins
Chocolate almonds for our non-allergic kid
Snacks (pretzel, pop chips, rice cakes, etc)
