Food prices going up!

It's not so much that the price increases, it's that it increases far more than is necessary to account for inflation + some extra profit. Constantly raising prices by 20% or more is greedy. Do what you need to do to keep your costs in check, make yourself a good profit, but stop gouging people just because you can. That's my take on it.

Yeah damned it! :faint:

Lots of cuts in staff and entertainment in spite of record profits coupled with announcement of the high dollar after hours event and moderately high dollar before hours event. Oh, and don't forget the "preferred parking" upcharge.
What's the preferred parking up charge?.$18 for parking is high to begin with in my opinion. Bah humbug!

Not surprised... I see this happening at non-Disney places, as well. Nothing ever drops in price, anymore. It just goes up and up.

It's pretty bad though when dining and snacks end up costing so much that you have to pay a deposit first, then pay for your meals on a monthly installment plan. To add insult upon injury, those dining plans have just short of an illegal interest rate. So......eat now, pay later and until the cows really do come home. And them cows can be grazing way in the back 40 too man! Loll

J/K. Lol

Sort of like monthly payments on Annual Passes... pay now, pay later? People will find a way to pay for things when they want them bad enough. We budget, save and pay for our Annual Passes all in one pop every year and still share food at Disneyland.

Exactly. Increasing prices is not just happening at Disneyland, folks.

I see the J/K, but I don't really get the post. It's either a way off the wall "joke" or a grandiose complaint. Disneyland doesn't have dining plans. And the WDW dining plans don't have interest.

Yes....off the wall joke. Point of it being food can cost only so much until you might need a payment plan for it.

Is the prices going up because of the Shanghai thing or because of greed? Or both? :confused3

Is this price gouging also happening at WDW as well?

This is just my two cents but as a family of 7 we budget one meal inside/outside the park. We bring our breakfast to the hotel and eat while we are getting ready. Saves us time to get to the rides in the morning. ;) We bring snacks and lunch with us. In years past we have brought them in with us. We don't buy drinks when we are out because it's upwards of 20 dollars, just for that. Plus my kids don't drink soda. Our dinner is eaten either in the park or outside the park. We LOVE The Pizza Press!! We do Denny's breakfast for dinner. Or we eat at Boardwalk Pizza and Rancho a lot. They are family favorites. We budget about $75 a day and we don't always use it all. Just some "Food" for thought. Safeway/Vons will deliver orders to your hotel. There is also a Target on Harbor. ;)

Is this the part where I say #thanksshanghai ? When I read threads like this, it does make me want to push more towards WDW should they offer Free Dining. With just the savings on food, it makes it almost worth it to fly the whole family out there. But who knows if any discounts will be coming these days.

This is stuff happening at WDW. None of this is happening in DL just yet!

Yeah, sorry about that. My post that started that discussion should have read "after seeing what they have been up to in WDW the last couple months.......".

And yes, it still makes me very skeptical there won't be a variety of money grabs that come along with Star Wars Land opening.

I will say one thing though. The strong AP base at DLR does do a pretty good job of holding Disney's feet to the fire.
