Oh kind Disney Dining...do you have any lunch reservations available for Via Napoli?

No...No pizza for you!

Oh nice Mr. Host at Via Napoli....Do you have any available tables in your almost empty restaurant for two hungry diners who have travelled long and far from the Beach Club?

Sure....please let us feed you hungry diners!

Ok...maybe it didn't go quite that way but you get the idea.

Pizza ovens

Our waiter was Nazario...Nazario ...you little playa'
Ok so....any of you that grew up in a primarily Italian town...or Jersey...you know how suave Italian guys try to be when they are in the younger years. Well now add a true Italian accent and you've got Nazario..lol

Don't get me wrong....Nazario was a fabulous waiter along with all of the waitstaff. I think with the restaurant being new, everyone is still on their toes.

So Nazario comes over to take our orders...( insert Italian accent here) I am Nazario. I will be your waiter. If there is annnnyyyything I can do for you, let me know ( raise one eyebrow, smile crookedly and give your best rico suave look to the lady) This continued throughout the meal. Now I am a fairly intelligent 40 yr old woman who should be immune to this. My dbf is pretty darn handsome ( at least to me) and a good guy .....however I found myself giggling like a schoolgirl ...thank you Nazario..hee hee hee.
So ladies ...I am warning you before you eat here..so you can practice at not giggling like a silly school girl when one of the handsome waiters introduces themselves.

Anyway...on to the food.
PA060249.JPG

Arancini - Fried saffron risotto balls filled with mozzarella and meat ragu

PA060250.JPG

Calamari Fritti - Corn crusted rings served with spicy tomato sauce

Calamari was very good but not the best we've ever had. This is the first time I've had Arancini. It was ok....I don't know if I'd order it again though. Not because it was bad in anyway...it just didn't seem like anything special to me.

PA060251.JPG

Wood Fired Authentic Pizza Napoletana - Prosciutto E Melone. Fontina, Mozzarella, Pecorino, Prosciutto, Canteloupe
This was really good! High quality ingredients, fresh mozzarella and very good prosciutto were used. Salty sweet taste.

Just a tip. If you are ordering apps. You may just want to share an individul pizza. I had a slice and 1/2 and I was full. Don't worry dbf sacrificed himself and finished mine for me.
PA060253.JPG

What a guy!

PA060252.JPG

Wood Fired Authentic Pizza Napoletana - Carciofi. Artichoke, Pecorino, Mozzarella, Truffle oil
Also really good!!!!

I was bound and determined to try the Zeppole Di Catarina - Ricotta Cheese Fritters, served with whipped cream, chocolate sauce...but I don't know if it was all the eyebrow raising or all my giggling but I just couldn't do it.

However...I did get this
PA060255.JPG

Gelato Frizzante - Ice cream soda Italian style, made with San Pellegrino Aranciata and Vanilla Ice Cream- bennissimo , molto bene, delizioso..ok sorry ..got carried away. it was very good, kinda like an orange creamsicle ice cream soda.

Thanks for the great pictures and detailed review. I am torturing myself while reading this and trying to stay on my diet. Hope I can make it another week!

Sometimes the walk up vs Disney Dining ADR works in reverse too. I called Disney Dining after we tried a walkup at Whispering Canyon. Walk up wait time.....45 min. The ADR I made while we were standing there was for 25 minutes less.
Note to self for next weeks trip....Look for Nazario....

Awesome review. But did anyone else notice the wasp eating the dessert in the dessert and champagne pic?! YIKES!

I love California Grill. It is a must do every trip. Tonight we decided to go on a sushi fest! So put your hands together for the best sushi on Disney property!

Our waitress this evening was awesome. She was so friendly and down to earth. When she came over she asked whether we were planning on viewing the fireworks and if so, inside or outside. We didn't have a window table but our table still had a great view of the castle. We decided to view them outside, so she timed our meal accordingly.

Oh and I had added a celebration to our reservation. There was Mickey glitter on our table. It was so cute and unexpected. I know ..simple things get me excited....lol

And now...what you've all been waiting for

It was a great meal with a great server. Oh and they also brought us out 2 glasses of sparkling wine as a part of our celebration. It was also very good but I was way too full to really enjoy it....but a really nice sentiment!

I was thinking about getting the Snake in the Grass next time we go there, it looks REALLY good, but a ton of food, we would definitely have to split that!

So this was our last day and we were bound and determined to complete the passport. I have to say dbf did most of the eating today, but I did take a bite to see how it was.

What fun getting you passport stamped - I'm looking forward to doing the same starting on Wednesday!

Thanks for sharing your photos and reviews - the photos are making me very excited and very hungry!

So this is officially the last meal of our trip:guilty:

We decided we wanted something light before we left so sushi seemed like a good idea.
We checked at the podium and were seated right away.
After checking out the menu, I asked the waitress if we could just order a specialty roll for our entree. No only the combinations. Apparently there are rules here that need to be followed.

PA070315.JPG

Assorted Tempura - Shrimp, chicken breast and seasonal vegetables with a Japanese dipping sauce.
Oh...and also a sparkling sake. This was really good.

PA070316.JPG

Tuna tartare with I believe sesame seeds coating it. Sorry...can't find it on the menu. It was quite the presentation.

PA070317.JPG

Sushi Combination - Tuna, Yellowtail, Salmon, Shrimp, Masago and 4 pieces of California roll. We both got this. It was good and fresh but nothing special.

For dessert we both got ice cream. It was just ice cream so no pics...and by this time dbf was getting really tired of taking pictures of all the food. Hey...it was his idea...right

This is a very nice relaxing restaurant...Teppan Edo, down the hall ...not so much. The food is good..nothing incredibly special but still good. The waitresses are very polite and understated. However, there is alot ...I mean alot of bowing. I didn't mind it..but I could see how it would get annoying after awhile. I like the atmosphere. It kinda takes you away from all the hustle and bustle of the park. You can watch everything going on below you in a quiet relaxed atmosphere.

Looking forward to Food Pornatopia 2011...The sequel.:cheer2:

Tentative plans for next yr.

Same time...possibly Halloween 5K and add in a night or 2 on the premium plan and end with the Swan and Dolphin classic.

Wish me luck...I've got some convincing to do and some money to be saved!

Hey, we had this last year, it was really good! We did the sake tasting at Tokyo Dining and this is one of the things they served us. It's probably only there during F&W because they are making them for the special tastings.

So sad that this is the end of your trip, I've really enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed all your reviews, thanks for the pics!
