Food Porn for Nothing! What foods has Disney taken Away?

ITA! Also, I just do not understand what is up with all of the negativity that is going around in the Restaurant Board lately. :sad2: Whether its a rumor or a menu change, negativity is very strong right now. I may be one of the only ones left who just doesn't feel like complaining. :confused3 It is all about perspective. Me, a college student, who is tired of the chain restaurants, cheap bistros, lounges, and semi-gourmet dives that is located in my area can find a whole bevy of wonderful restaurants and snacks located inside WDW. So no, I will not complain one bit.

ITA! :thumbsup2

Well, thanks to the poster who mentioned that that they at least offer you letttuce and tomatoes to add to your fries. Maybe Figaro Fries are back as a make-it-yourself thing. I'll take them any way I can get them:thumbsup2

I print off menus every year we have gone since 1999. The price increases and the limited standardized of today are shameful in comparison. The value isn't there anymore. If you look at the old food porn thread prior to the DDP and now it's pitiful. The smores at PTC are a perfect example, portion cut in half and priced the same.

The previous portion was huge, and unreasonable though. Isn't it like still eight marshmallows now? That's more then enough for a single serving dessert.

Oh man, dbf couldn't finish them in January...and he is the sugar king! He can eat a whole goofy's candy company creation in less than 5 minutes... yet he was done with the s'mores with 2 "squares" left. :lmao:

I am planning on stopping at Goofy's on my first night for some pretzel sticks, and have a bite of one or two each day, I can't imagine eating one in a few minutes. That would just be too rich.

But that does prove my point about PTC, they probably cut back on portion side if they were getting half full plates back, and wanted to stop wasting food.

A large majority of my regular eating includes hamburgers, hot dogs and wheat buns. So WHY in the world would WDW think if I am on vacation I would want to continue eating the same way? Instead of staying home, I flew 2 1/2 hours to eat a hot dog? :confused3

I completely agree with you!!! I have been on a lifestyle change since January and have lost 45lbs. I am ready for my fattening food and chocolate and cake and all that good stuff. I have been eating healthy for 7 1/2 months, I want something bad for me!!!!!!

Looking back just 2 years to our August 06 trip, there are a lot of things we enjoyed that are no longer on the menus.

Le Cellier: Sauteed jumbo shrimp entree, maple-glazed filet and balsamic strawberries and ice cream

Kona Cafe: Kona chowder and Apple Brown Betty

Spoodles: Lamb kefka, Fettucine seafood alfredo, Portugese stew, strip steak

Cap'n Jacks: Steak (and, therefore, surf and turf)

We noticed that several things that are still on the menus have been changed for the worse, in our opinions. For example, Kona has changed the macadamia mahi-mahi so that the macadamias are a finer, mealier topping and there are no longer fried onions on it. DW didn't like it at all, especially compared to the way they used to do it. And they used to drizzle mustard sauce on the sticky wings, now they bring the sauce on the side. Not a big deal, but it's not as nice.

It's just not as pleasant an experience as it used to be, but I think it would continue that way even if the DDP ended for good tomorrow. The green-eyeshade, sharp-pencil guys and gals are running the show now.

I hated that they took off the crab legs from Coral Reef, but we are still going there. They need to change the menus up from time to time, or people would start to complain about that as well!

The elimination of the lamb and the alfredo at Spoodles is why we stopped going there, that lamb app was amazing!

Every restaurant I've ever been to has changed the menu over the years, and seasonally as well, based on availability of ingredients.

I've never had the maple filet at Le Cellier, however, I know that maple syrup, and products made from maple, are very scare and expensive this year due to the unseasonable winter last year.

Now gone from Kona-Seared Ahi Tuna-so good! The server told us they couldn't afford to serve it anymore. :confused3

But, that's okay because we found a substitute at Sunshine Season in the Land which was so good that we went back and had it again last trip.
Seared Tuna on Mixed Greens with Sesame Rice Wine dressing $8.39 ;)

My beloved Strawberry Swirl is gone from Enchanted Grove; no more peach tart at the Boulangerie Pastry shop; no more 1/2 sandwich and soup at CHH; no turkey panini at PVH; and no lamb barley soup at R&C.

Food PORN is photos of the food. Check up top in the 'sticky' area- there is an area with food pictures- 1000s, in fact probably 10s of thousands of photos! :)

I think I read the Fried Cheese is gone from 50's cafe? if so it can be on the list
I hadn't even heard this one and was completely taken off guard when my beloved Herb Fried Cheese was off the menu during our June/July trip this summer. I think I ended up with a chicken caesar salad.

Then there's the Maple BBQ Filet at Le Cellier--the Mushroom Filet was decent, but they wouldn't allow me to substitute asparagus for the risotto (although mashed were ok for the substitution some reason???). After a mediocre meal of filet and risotto I decided I'd just be doing a meal of appetizers there and skipping steak completely, a completely ridiculous thought at what used to be my favorite steak place.

I was looking at an updated menu for Colombia Harbor House and cannot find the sandwich I usually have with Ham and Broccoli Slaw... pretty sad about that.

I'm almost positive that the Ham sandwhich at CHH is the one that my friend (a cast member) adores and she said that they got rid of it. She too is very sad :(

I completely understand the updating of menus, because as a repeat visitor I enjoy trying new things. However, the quality that seems to be going down. I know this has probably been brought up before but OHana used to be one of my favorite places to eat. It was so bad on our trip July '07 that we didn't even eat there this time....and we were staying at the Polynesian!!! My son was thoroughly confused but I couldn't justify spending money there again. Blah.
