Food Porn for Nothing! What foods has Disney taken Away?

I don't care what they take away as long as they don't touch my dole whip!!

Not just a dish, but the Concourse Steakhouse where I enjoyed the braised beef short rib over cheddar grits served w/a barbecue glaze. I can remember it so well. popcorn::

Not that I disagree, but with soaring profits and increasing attendance, I don't see their thought process changing anytime soon. Unfortunately for us.

It seems the current leadership is determined to return WDW to its earlier incarnation. We don't spend our vacations and our hard-earned thousands at Six Flags. And, we won't do so at WDW either, given the way things are going.

What a shame!

so... what is left?? I haven't been to wdw since 2005, and we loved the food.. but it seems like there is nothing but chicken left on the menus. is there anywhere that you can gt an up to date menu??

Check out allearsnet.com, they have the most current menus, and I know they just updated Jiko's and Flying Fish's menus a few days ago.

That is where I go, but I wasn't sure if it was up to date. I used it to plan all our ADR's. I know I shouldn't care about the food, and I know what hey will have will be good, but I really hate change, and I based ADR's on what I read on here and allears. The food to me is as big as the parks, as it is 8 days I dont have to do a darn thing!!

You can't blame the DDP either, that's just a smoke screen as well. What we're looking at here is good old fashioned greed.

IF the DDP were the issue you wouldn't see the downturn at DL that has been reported or the downgrading of the drinks menus. Neither of those accept DDP.

Don't blame this on Disney trying to make the menus healthier. That's just their excuse.

You can put the full blame for this state of affairs on the DDP. And perhaps a point that someone (I think it may have been Brenda) made over on the F&W Festival thread, namely, that Eisner at least seemed to understand that WDW (in order to attract repeat customers and those who avoid amusement parks like the plague) needed to be more than just an amusement park with hot dogs.

The current CEO and his team clearly don't get it. Dh and I had last been to WDW in 1987. The food was so poor we eliminated it as a vacation spot. Ten years later, after reading many good reports on the renaissance in food and wine, we decided to give it a try and were suitably impressed with the improvements. We've returned at least once and sometimes two or three times a year since.

This is a shame, my DW and myself go to WDW at least once a year w/o any children and a nice sit down meal is definitely part of our vacation enjoyment. I see a trend where the seperation between signature dinning and all other TS meals is growing. It's more than likely because of food costs and the DDP. As soon as getting a decent meal for under $100 for a couple isnt possible we will be making the the trip to WDW less and less.

Can someone explain to me why they can't afford to serve so many items? They are charging an arm and a leg to eat at their restaurants. Many chains in the "real world" serve a variety of items from $8-$16 and they aren't taking them off the menu. Why does Disney have to serve less for more?

You should never assume that you can predict that a menu you read on an unofficial website will be exactly the same menu offered when you arrive at the restaurant, no matter how recently the menu was posted.

They ruined my beloved Boardwalk Bakery couple of years ago - use to have great donuts,, cinnamon yummy's and buns etc. We used to go there every morning - now I haven't stepped foot in the place for about three years...who goes to Disney to get a Krispy kreme - that's really unique.

Oh, well excuse me. I thought that is why there were websites like the dis and allears. So that people could get an idea of what they might be in for..silly me:sad2:

An idea, yes, but you can't expect the menus, from unofficial sites, to be exactly the same as the restaurants.

I know when I ate at Flying Fish last year the menu was dated with the day's date, so that means they are printed, and perhaps changed, daily. Even if All Ears posted a Flying Fish menu today, it could be different tomorrow.

All Ears does date their menus though, so the recent ones are mostly fairly accurate, but the older ones could be way off.

My point was that I made my adr's based on what I researched, through the dis, phone calls to wdw,all ears and other sites. They still changed the menus and took many things off over the years. Which is a bummer for me. I don't expect anything. I do hope that they will keep up with the good things they still do have and not take them away also. I really didn't feel nalas snippiness was necessary. I'm not complaining( I can certainly live without the steak), just a bit bummed. whatevs:rolleyes:

*******

We knew what your point was. You actually were being very helpful. I always use ALLEARS.NET to get an idea of what is on the menu and how much it is.

Thanks!

My dd and I are very upset that Coral Reef has deleted the Crab legs off their menu. The only time she got excited about a restaurant was when she saw the crab legs on the menu. We are not big fish eaters. How could a seafood restaurant not have crab or lobster (except for the soup). :confused3  :confused3
I so agree with this. The first time we went there I was so disappointed cause there was no good seafood on the menu. I ended up getting a very dry salmon. Still hurts my feelings :sad2:

I am planning on stopping at Goofy's on my first night for some pretzel sticks, and have a bite of one or two each day, I can't imagine eating one in a few minutes. That would just be too rich.

But that does prove my point about PTC, they probably cut back on portion side if they were getting half full plates back, and wanted to stop wasting food.

We have never been there. I am very picky on sweets being a dietetic but I think we might go our up coming trip. The kids would love it.
