Hello!

I am trying to plan for my trip, and since I am travelling solo I am in need of some info regarding portion sizes. I'm trying to plan ahead of time, that way I can buy gift cards at Target and save a little bit of money. I'm also planning on bringing snacks, like apples, protein bars, almonds, and cheez its.

Day One: Arrive 4 pm, go to Disneyland Park
Dinner - not really sure. Something from Rancho del Zocalo ?
Snacks - Dole Whip, Jalapeno Pretzle, Oreo Churro from DTD

Day Two: California Adventure!
Breakfast - Chicken Tamale Breakfast at Flo's
Lunch - Mac and Cheese Cozy Cone, Pomegranite Limeade
Dinner - Chicken Tamale Dinner at Cocina Cucamunga
Will get an ice cream and probably some other treat during the day as well.

Day Three: Disneyland!!! Early Morning Magic (it's on a Thursday)
Breakfast - Breakfast Burrito from White Water Snacks, Coffee
Lunch - Chicken, Tiger Tails, and Veggie Skewers from Bengal BBQ
Dinner - Galactic Grill Chicken Sandwich (I kind of need the Han Solo bucket.)

Is this too much food? I'm going in 9 days, so it will be hot while I'm there, which means slightly less appetite, plus I won't want to be too full in the heat. I'm going solo so I won't have anyone to share with (oh no!), which is also why I'm not going to any sit down meals like Plaza Inn. I'd love to get the chicken dinner but I know I won't be able to finish it.

Any thoughts? Are the portions too big for the meals I'm planning on? Thanks in advance!!

The mac and cheese cone is very heavy; two of us couldn't finish it. You can get the kid's chicken dinner at the Plaza Inn. You can order kid's meals at any CS.

Skip Cocina cucamonga. It's been gross every time I went.

I love Rancho del zocalo at night. Great atmosphere.

Some like tiger tails at Bengal BBQ. I'd skip it & get 2 chicken skewers.

At plaza inn inquire about getting items as a side or order the kids meal.

Try award wieners I'm DCA. I like the veggie sandwich.

I also love pasta and salad from boardwalk Pizza & pasta.

My other favorite is French market.

That would be super awesome! They only list one option for the chicken dinner on the website and app, other than the kid's option which is not quite the same.

Also good to know!!
There are entire items you can order at places that aren't on the menu. I think cheese sticks at the Golden Horseshoe.

Did you use allears menus?

No! I figured there must be some other items or menus, for example the Mac and Cheese cone isn't even on the menus! I'll check out allears and see what all they list. I think kids meals will be a good option for me. Do CM give you a hard time if you're an adult ordering a kids meal without a kid?

Plaza Inn is pretty relaxed with substituting items. On the adult meal it comes with mashed potatoes and green beans but they are fine with subbing for all mashed or all beans. I don't recall exactly whats on the kid's chicken meal but if it's too small I'd be tempted to have a nice late breakfast, skip lunch, and splurge on the Plaza Inn friend chicken. Its so worth the calories. :cloud9:

I was starting to think maybe I could get the fried chicken on my first day. It would serve as lunch and dinner, since I'm arriving at 4:00 pm. I'm planning on that day being slightly less full than the other two as well, so it might work.

Also, what does CS stand for? (I was thinking California Screamin' but that can't be it!)

Thanks for that tid bit too! I was planning there since I have a Chase card and get a discount. I think I get one at someplace in New Orleans Square too? I want to say French Market maybe. Any opinions on that location?

Love!!! Salad is good. Kids meals are big.

At Plaza Inn you can order items a la carte. Last month I got a breast piece and mashed potatoes for about $7. The regular meals are way too much food but their kids meal comes with a sad looking drumstick so I was very happy that I could order the breast piece by itself.

That sounds perfect! I'm so glad I posted the thread because I probably wouldn't have gone at all under my previous assumption.

Thanks everyone for your advice! Keep on giving too! I've got 9 days to go, and I'm super excited!!

I like Paradise Garden Grill in DCA.......mediterranean style skewers (chicken, steak, gyros) with pita bread, cucumber salad and rice.....very, very good....and not too heavy.

Hi! We'll be there in 9 days, too! I am also anxiously plotting our meals, and I just made reservations for Cafe Orleans for lunch and Steakhouse 55 for breakfast. I'm so excited! I think your plans sound awesome, but I know what you mean about the heat reducing your appetite.

I would suggest enjoying the Plaza Inn's fantastic fried chicken as your first meal in the park! The tables inside are air conditioned, so it might be a good place to relax and have a leisurely dinner while you plan your night.

I think there are better options for your DCA dinner. Are you sure you want to plan for 2 themepark tamale meals in the same day? :P

I love the recently reopened Paradise Garden Grill where they have skewered meats, flatbread, rice and a refreshing cucumber salad meal that I enjoy every chance I get.

I like the grilled chicken sandwich and onion rings at Smokejumpers Grill with it's spicy sauce and loaded with veggies from the condiment bar.

A sourdough bread bowl with broccoli cheddar soup from Pacific Wharf Cafe sounds delicious! Especially if you follow it with an ice cream dessert from nearby Ghiradelli!

I wish DCA had as many awesome places as DL, especially table service restaurants.

Have fun planning!

Personally, I would ditch Cozy Cone - or at least the Mac n Cheese Cone and go for churro bites or something similar, as well as anything from Cocina Cucamonga.

The fajita quesadilla rolls at Cove Bar are AWESOME, far better than the CC tamale. And it also keeps you from having a two-tamale day! Plus, it's a cool place to sit in the shade and watch people on California Screamin'. Normally, I'd recommend the lobster nachos - but they are HUGE and if you're trying to go smaller on the food, that kinda defeats the purpose.

Instead of the Mac n Cheese Cone, I'd do a meat/cheese plate, bruschetta or the flatbread combo at Alfresco Tasting Terrace. Both are WAY better and don't feel like a block of cement in your stomach like the Cone.

The Flo's breakfast tamale is on my to-do list for this trip, but if you want something a little different ... I can't help but rave about breakfast/brunch at Steakhouse 55 enough. It's the one place I HAVE to eat at every trip. At least once.

I was just looking at the menu, and yes I'm thinking PGG will replace CC. Not sure what I was thinking with two tamale meals!

Have you tried either of the other Cozy Cone offerings? I was thinking the chicken verde cone would be yummy too.

Thanks both of you for your responses! Everyone's help has been great, now I'm hungry and ready to eat in the parks!! :)
