Hi

Very excited... im going to Disney Paris next sunday, 3 night and 4 days with my wife and 2 small kids ( 3 and 2 ).

We have booked Bed and Breakfast, but have been advised to book the half board option.

has anyone done this and is it worth the cost? Does it make it easer with Kids?

does it just cover Dinner ?

If you sign up for Half Board you will get a voucher for each person for each night which you exchange for either a set meal or a buffet at the restaurants in the category you have selected, eg Standard, Plus or Premier. If you stick to the restaurants in your category and the meal on offer then you will benefit from a discount however you also have the option to eat in a different class of restaurant or choose food that is not on the set menu and exchange the vouchers for their cash value and if you do this you won't get benefit from the discount.

We used the Half Board Plus option when we visited in March and while it was nice to have most of our food paid for up front I don't plan to use them again as I don't think we made much of a saving. We ended up going to restaurants in the three different categories (Agrabah Cafe, Cafe Mickey and Inventions) so only got a discount on a couple of meals. The other thing is that you are committing yourself to either a three course meal or large buffet when you might be happy to use one of the cheaper counter-service restaurants.

I have bought shares in Disneyland Paris now so I can become a shareholder and use the 15% discount next time I visit.

Oh, and I believe under 3s eat for free at buffets and possibly the table service restaurants too.

Hope this is of some help!

Forgot to say - the vouchers can be used for lunch or dinner depending on when the restaurants are open.

Half board doesn't save you much, if any at all, money, over paying for your food at the end of your meal. Its restrictive, as it only covers one meal per night booked into an onsite hotel, you won't get a half board voucher for your 2-year old, and it doesn't cover counter service meals, only table service/buffet meals at certain restaurants in the resort. So for your party you'd get a total of 3 vouchers for you, 3 for your wife, and 3 for your 3-year old.

For a first time, honestly I think it would be easier for you not to have the half board options, have a look for menus/prices online for the restaurants at DLP, and work your food budget around that.
If you prefer a sit-down meal at the end of your park day/lunchtime, go for buffet service restaurants, as your 2-year old will go free in those (you'd have to pay if you wanted a separate meal for your 2-year old in table service restaurants).
It really depends on what your family like to eat, what kind of budget you're on etc etc. There are loads of options for restaurants, including McDonalds, in the resort.

I've probably confused you even more now, haven't I :rotfl: ?

Thanks for all the advice guys.

my 3 year old is not 3 just yet few months off.

so would i get both of them in free with the Wife and myself in buffet service restaurants

Yes if they are both under 3 they will both eat free in buffets- just remember to say they are 2 if you are asked (dont say nearly 3 or they misunderstand you). They wont have a ticket for the parks either.

Where are you staying and have you thought about where you might want to eat?

Staying in the Cheyenne, so i think buffet will be the way to go. Our Daughter ( 2 going on 82) is a bit of a picker so would be a good idea to give her choice. My boy will eat just about everything.

They both still take a bottle of milk at bedtime. is there a shop i can get fresh milk from?
