Does anyone happen to know what Delta serves for food on flights? We will have breakfast on the way to WDW & lunch on the way back.

Just curious if it will be something we will like or if we will have to eat before we board.

Thanks!

Hi, We have had their snack boxes a few times. You can also buy a small can of Pringles and a bag of TrailMix. $2-$3 I believe. Inside the snack box we have had various crackers and cheese. Different brands. We have had Oreo cookies, fancy cookies (like Gingersnaps) We also had salami once and a type of sausage one time (not a fan so I pass it off to hubby.) I seem to remember having some type of dried fruit as well.

The snack boxes are $5 (no cash) and if you like everything inside the box it would definitely be considered a 'light' lunch.

I should add that is flying Detroit to Orlando, so a 2.5 hr flight.

Are you coming a long distance? Typically meals are not served on shorter flights.

We used sky miles to upgrade to first class so we get breakfast going down & lunch coming back.

What route are you flying? Without that, its impossible to answer your question. Atlanta-Orlando won't have a meal, even in first class. Los Angeles-Orlando will have a choice between a cold breakfeast plate and a hot plate, usually egg-based. A typical lunch might be a choice between a sandwhich of sorts and a large salad with fish or chicken.

I've flown Delta first class and it does depend on the distance. One time I flew Denver-Atlanta and it was only cold cereal. Longer flights have a hot meal. Short flights just the snack basket.

Our experience has been that usually breakfast in first is cold cereal, some fruit and a bagel. Lunch is usually a salad or a cold sandwich.

We are flying from Minneapolis to Orlando.

Don't expect much, then. Probably a turkey sandwhich or a chicken salad.

American Airlines is pretty much the only domestic carrier left that still has traditional first class food service.

I don't think that is true. I've flown both USAirways and Delta from Pittsburgh to the west coast in first class in the past year or two and they had hot food service. Those are both 5 hour flights (Delta would be connecting through Cincinnati or Atlanta). Delta was more classy than USAirways. US serves beverages in the same plastic cups as coach, Delta uses glass. Delta puts down placemats and has hot towels.

But those are 5 hour flights.

On a less than two hour American Airlines dinner flight between Chicago and Philadelphia, you'll get your choice between a steak or a warm pasta dish, served with a side salad, finished with ice cream for dessert; not to mention warm nuts to start.

US Airways doesn't even serve a meal unless the flight is 3.5 hours.

This is a typical American Airlines food on a 2 to 3.5 hour flight:

This is typical Delta for similar length:

We actually normally fly Sun Country which is a carrier out of Minneapolis. Their food has been very good the two times we flew first class flights to Orlando.

The first time we had omelets w/ sausage links & a muffin on the way to Orlando. On the way back we had Babybell Cheese, Laughing Cow Cheese & crackers for a snack. Plus Sweet & Sour Chicken for our meal & fresh chocolate chip cookies on the way back.

The second time, we had quiche, sausage links & breakfast potatoes on the way. On the way back we had fruit, warm Sandwiches of some sort & Rachel’s potatoes chips. We again had the cheese & crackers for a snack & cookies for dessert.

Looks like we are in for a disappointment with Delta. Thanks for all of the help. Some food is better than nothing I guess. At least I won't have to worry about grabing something at the airport.
