I've been in contact with Brenda Bennett but was told today that they could charge us for a child's price for our son. This is the first either of us (DH and myself) have heard about this. When we originally made the reservations they told us DS would be able to eat off our plates since he wasn't old enough to have the dining plan (he's 1). At that time he wasn't diagnosed with a true milk allergy but we were avoiding it along with all the foods it was in. When we called back to change one thing he had been diagnosed so we told them when we made that reservation about the milk allergy. They never once said anything about charging us a child's price for him. All they said was that it was noted on the reservation, to tell the CM when we checked in at the restaurant and then tell the waitress/waiter when they came to the table. A chef would come out and either show us things off the menu we could order or walk us through the buffet.

Anyone else been told this or had this happen?

I was just coming to post about this. My DD is 2 and has a milk allergy. I haven't contacted Brenda Bennett yet. This was my concern. Would be charged for her at buffets and family style restaurants? I am expecting to order her own meal at the other restaurants if we order something she can't eat.

I would expect at a buffet that they will show you safe items or prepare something safe for her. You would not be charged a buffet price for her.

At a regular restaurant where you order off the menu she is expected to eat off of your plates. That would mean that the adult plates she is eating off of would need to be free of the allergen - so those adults would need to eat the same meal as the child. I'm sure if one adult has something with fries and the other adult has something with chicken and you want safe fries from one plate and safe chicken from the other - they would separate items from the meal for you.

If you don't want to share a meal with her then you would have to pay a child's meal price for her meal.

I guess if you want to know for sure I'd call Brenda back and ask. If that is the case you might want to go buffet heavy or budget in an extra $5-8 for a kid's meal for the menu places.

We went to Chef Mickeys, CRT breakfast & The Crystal Palace in 2005 when my ds (dairy, peanut, treenut, egg whites-well sort of) was 22 months old. He was not charged & the chef walked me thru the buffet line & then made him broccoli, a potato & some pasta (forget what else) specially for him.

But when we ate at the Prime Time he got his own meal & was charged.

Does anyone know about the new chicken that they have that is dairy free? Is it good? My now almost 5 yo loves chicken nuggets. I was so upset when I got in contact with BB & she gave me the emails that the nuggets now have whey in them. They didn't 3 years ago & it was so easy but now we may have to go get him food one place & us at another place if he doesn't like what else is offered.

I didn't get a list of CS places that have milk free foods. I did contact Brenda Bennett and she said she has let the chefs know about my niece's LI at all the TS and the resort we are staying at.

I saw someone posted about Kosher chicken nuggets without dairy in them. Does anyone know where to find them?

I'm at WDW for 14 nights in September and I hope I can give everyone else more information than I have been able to find so far.

Our youngest has a milk allergy (along with a couple other things) and we had no problems at the buffets....chefs came out and treated him like any paying customer (he was only 1 at the time and 'ate' off our plates). At the full service and counter service restaurants, if we ordered something specifically for him, we expected to be charged for it (sometimes we were, sometimes we weren't)....but, usually we just ordered a meal for one of us that he could eat and shared with him.

Does anyone know about these dairy free chicken nuggets. My dd has no allergies so she gets to eat anything but my ds is allergic to dairy and peanuts. So i would like to find as much for him as possible.

I just got was at the parks and was very impressed at how allergies were handled. I went to get tofutti at the ice cream place in the Magic Kingdom and a supervisor came out and spoke with me, found out which flavor I wanted and then they went back and scoped it in a separate area with a scope that is not used to scoop regular ice cream.
At all the counter serve restaurants I had no problem getting items without dairy, mango or shellfish. For drink I had to stick to ice tea or water as they still do not carry a diet soda made with Splenda. No big deal.
At the ice cream carts the CM pointed out to me the diary free items. And orange bar and a strawberry bar. No one was irritated or rude about the requests and all were very helpful.
