I've been to Disneyland probably 20 times in 15 years. We have APs now and have gone 3x since Xmas.

I've noticed the counter service food getting pretty bad and not having as much variety as before.

Had a bad experience at Pizza Port last time we were there.

I like Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans but can you guys recommend some decent counter food?

Pizza at Pizza Port is just plain bad. Pasta is okay though.

I LOVE Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA (bread bowls) and Plaza Inn in DL has huge portions of great "home-cooked" food. Give those a try to restore your faith a bit!

Although a sit down restaurant, carnation cafe in Disneyland is very good and relatively inexpensive.

DCA has far better counter service than DL. Pacific Wharf Cafe has really good bread bowls and shrimp salads. The chinese counter service food isn't bad and although I haven't eaten it yet, the mexican counter service also looks good.

The food is bad, but it has not gone downhill. I never been impressed with the food at DL. It has never been good. I do not understand why they can't do better than McDonalds or Subway. It is really that bad.

Our favorites are
- Riverbelle Terrace for their turkey sandwiches made with carved turkey meat (not deli meat)
- BBQ chicken baked potato at Troubadour Tavern
- ribs at Taste Pilot's grill (we share the 5 rib plate to make it cheaper)
- bread bowls at Pacific Wharf Cafe

I agree with the Pizza Port never being all that great in the first place. We love getting the bread bowls in DCA. We used to always go to the Mexican place in DCA, but have not gone in years since we noticed the fish tacos disappear from the menu. My brother also loves going into Downtown Disney for pretzel hot dogs.

If you look at it since the 80's it has gone uphill. It used to be much worse and mostly all you could get was the same burger everywhere. And everything else wasn't that great. I am hopeful they will continue to make improvments but overall they really could do a better job. We like Bengal BBQ and Whitewater Snacks (in the GCH). Had pizza at Pizza Port years ago and was not impressed. I'll have to try the pasta sometime.

After learning my lesson the first few times I was at DL I no longer get counter service...usually the burgers are really tough like they were pre-cooked. My family and I love a good burger so usually we'll save that for one of our dinners and go down the street to Red Robin, but other than that we stick with either Cafe Orleans or Carnation Cafe.

Sometimes we eat at Big Thunder BBQ, kids love the song and dance routine they do and I love the atmosphere and service and the food isnt to shabby either!

There are lots of choices at DL, but for CS I prefer DCA, no one can beat those delicious bread bowls!!!! :thumbsup2

Plaza Inn usually has "better" food, you might want to try it next time you are there. The fried chicken is really good, just be aware that their portions are really big.

Carnation cafe is also good.

Disneyland (foodwise) is sad compared to Disney World.
The sheer number of great choices at WDW is overhwelming, but great to have.

I'm not a huge fan of Blue Bayou. It's not a place I just have to go to when I'm there. I like the atmosphere in there, but that's about it.

I wish they had more options.

Now that insane Corn Dog cart---now that's what I'm talkin' about ;)

I haven't ate at Pizza Port since I was like 10 or so and even then I hated the Pizza.
As far as other places in DLR I havent' really encountered anything bad. I usually love all the food I have had there. But I am also pretty easy to please as far as food goes so I guess I can't really be of much help.

Where else in the DLR (besides La Brea Bakery in DTD) can we buy real coffee, not Nescafe?

Best Coffee in DL is at fench market in NOS but it is still only the best in DL I have def had better elsewhere

Our favorite counter service is Whitewater snacks in GCH by far! The nachos are to die for! Bengal BBQ is good too but more of a snack than a meal.

We did not like TP burgers at all at Christmas they were very dry and lacked flavor. We must have caught a really bad day.

My sister has a socal pass and she often stops in at DL at lunch time just to get a corn dog from that corn dog cart! No rides, no shops, no parades...just the corn dog.:confused3

Nope, not a bad day, that's just how they are. We don't like them there either for the same reason. They seem like typical theme park burgers to us. If we want good burgers we go to Red Robin or Fudruckers. The burgers at DLR don't even come close. Now I will agree that the ribs at TPG are pretty good.

LOVE Fudruckers cook they way you want, Red Robin here has always been on the dry side.
