We (DW, DD7, and I) are just back from our 6/1-6/7 stay at the Polynesian. Thanks for all the wonderful advise we received from this forum. Let me give you a brief culinary review...

--We spent some money on food, and how! We only ate counter service a few times, but they were good! We just didn't want to miss anything, and when you haven't been on vacation in 5 years, you tend to splurge;)

--we stayed at the Polynesian and ate at Ohana's 3 times (1 character breakfast and 2 dinners). The dinners were fantastic - the grilled turkey and shrimp were out of this world! The salad and wontons as well. We ate at Kona 3 times as well (breakfast, lunch, dinner). All 3 meals here were different and delicious. high marks for both of these.

--Best meal of the trip - Chefs de France. Hands down. Caroline was our waitress and she spent time with our DD7 teaching her French and just being sweet. DD7 ordered off of the child's menu, but once she tasted the Lobster bisque, she had to have her own bowl. She loved the bread and the butter. The shrimp in risotto dish I had and DW's chicken cordon bleu were great and Caroline helped with some good wine selections. Great place!

--Character breakfast at Norway Wednesday morning! Cinderella showed up! They say she rarely leaves the castle, but here she was! Mary Poppins, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty rounded out the cast. The breakfast was really good here too! DD7 ate well here. potato dish was really good.

--Mama Melrose's was good. They have a good selection of dishes, here. It a good atmosphere. It's well hidden, though, know where you are going...

--Whispering Canyon Cafe was a hoot! My wife mentioned she was cold and they brought here a horse blanket! I laughed!! I got the skillet, but she had the veggie pasta. It was really good, she said.

--Tangiere Cafe in Morocco was great! Even though it is counter service, they had a great selection and the lamb is great! DD7 had her normal cheese pizza - it was good, too!

--Rainforest Cafe at AK - my only "won't ever do that again" of the whole trip. Food was OK, but the service was slow and we wanted to get back in the park. If you're not in a hurry, this is the place for you!

--Columbia Harbor house - MK - having heard unfavorable reviews, i was mildly pleased with everything here. We ate upstairs and had a great view of the folks coming by. A good stop for us. DW had the humus/veggie sandwich and I had the chicken strips, while DD7 had mac-n-cheese, I think. It was either that or pizza, but you didn't need to be psychic to know that, did you?

--Cosmic Ray's for supper Friday night - everything else was closing down for the evening, but we ducked in here for some fast food fill up before ENight. The fries were fantastic. I thought I'd be sick of them by now, but those were very tasty.

Let me know if you have any questions about the food or prices at any of these locations. Thanks.

Thank you for the reviews! I just love dining reviews. It helps me get my Disney "fix" between trips. I agree about dinner at Ohana. We ate there on our last trip and I had read what to expect but really made the p.s. more for the rest of the family than myself since it sounded like they would enjoy the food. It turns out that I did too and had to practically roll out of there lol. I'm so glad to read how much you enjoyed Chefs de France. That's on my "have got to try it" list and I really haven't read many reviews on it lately. Sounds like you had a great trip!

Excellent reviews

You covered a few places where we have booked ps's for in July. Good to see great reviews for Mama Melrose, 'Ohanas, Cape May and Tangierine Cafe.

'Ohanas is the one I'm still trying to fit into our itinerary.

Sue,
Fit it in. You won't be disappointed. just don't be bashful about asking for seconds from the appetizers and also work some of the calories off doing the hula when invited up!!!

Glad you liked Chef de France. That is always on my list - mainly because it's about the only place I can get escargot. And for those of you not adventurous enough to try these, you are missing out. Actually I barely taste the escargot - they're like chewy clams - I'm more interested in the garlic butter sauce they're in. Unbelieveably delicious, especially with those lovely rolls. The other must-have at this restaurant are the profiteroles: warm cream puffs filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with a slightly bittersweet hot chocolate sauce. YUM!! I think the servers are always very nice, too. Give this place a try!

Chef de France is one of our favorite restaurants too, we will be eating here again in Dec. Mama Melrose is also one of our favorite restaurants, we have never had a bad meal here. Thanks for the great post.

Thanks for sharing - wonderful reviews!!!!!
