we are travelling in April and will have a 2 yr old with us. She is not a big eater and when we go to waiter service restaraunts we ask for a spare plate so that we can give her some of our food. ..and we have been charged for this on occasion, they call this a 'service' charge -

when we go to buffet restaurants will they allow us to do this or will we have to pay the full/child price for her - she will be just 2 her birthday is just before we go.

we have also booked a character breakfast, her big sister will be 6 - we were told that we do not have to pay for her, but will she be able to eat......

we're not mean, but don't want to be wasteful

I cannot comment on the character breakfasts but most of the buffet style one's have a 'children eat free' policy if accompanied by paying adults.

I would just order for the adults.

The link below shows you the Ponderosa (buffet sytle restaurant) and it does say 'kids eat free'

This is from the website : "children 5 and younger eat FREE from the buffet with each adult full meal purchase"

Wow my two year old was also a small eater when we went last and we were never charged a 'service' charge when we asked for an extra plate.

fizzypop we were not charged for the plate in Orlando - it was actually in London and it was about 2 years ago when we were with our other grand daughter who was 3 at the time......

Are now why doesn't that surprise as much...

Like Johnny said the ponderosa is kids under 5 eat free, but every meal we had in september/october we took food off our plate to feed our 2 year old and we was never charged. I cant help you with the character breakfast though.

We were not charged at chef mickeys for our ds then 11 months last sept, i think they told me they do not charge the under 3's but cannot be sure!!

Disney do not charge for children under three if eating off of an adults plate, not sure how strict they are with the actual plate bit thoguh.

This is right :)

Does anyone know if they get their own plate?? Surely they must, but I don't actually know for sure!

We have had character meals at Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace and one in Animal Kingdom and we had no problems with getting an extra plate.

Our little boy was nearly 3 when we were last there and he went free of charge and was given a place setting all the same. I find the kids get sooooo excited when they see the characters that even the good eaters forget to eat!!!
