Food Courts @ Deluxe Resorts

Can someone please tell me which Deluxe resorts have food courts to grab a quick breakfast before heading to the parks? I would prefer one with a good variety. Also, if staying at a wing building in CR or one of the standard price POLY buildings, is it a long way to walk to the foodcourt and for mug refills? THANKS!!

I have been to ones at Grand Floridian, Poly, and Contemp. To me, they are more like a snack bar than a food court. The only really good food courts are at the Value and Moderate Resorts. Which is the reason we chose to stay at them instead of a Deluxe.

The Deluxes do not have food courts...they have fast food resturaunts(i.e. GF has gasparilla grill,Poly has Captain cooks, WL has Roaring Forks, etc.) they also have in-room dining/room service.

If you want a food court you either have to stay at a value or moderate resort or drive over to one and use theirs;)

i call them food courts.....they just don't have the selection that the value hotels have....
they're like tiny food courts and yes you'll be able to have a speedy breakfast there....

that's one of the reasons i don't like the YC/BC....no food court....
of the hotels we stay at, the AKL, GF and WL have them...
i like gasparillo's at the GF best.....AKL and WL are only so so....

My dh hated the food court at POR and loved Capt. Cook's at the Polynesian!!! That's the one thing he misses about BWV...you really only have the Bakery for something quick. At least VWL have Roaring Forks. It sure would be nice if the other resorts, Y/BC and BW, had a small food court type spot. Doesn't Saratoga Springs have one??

SSR has Artist Palate (I think it's called) ~ but it's not actually a food court ~ just another resturaunt. The DVC's do not have food courts since they are "home away from home" resorts equiped with kitchens, fridges and whatnot.

edited to say:

Okay, after replying to this thread about SSR, I started 2nd guessing myself so I double checked with my DVC dis pals on the DVC board as there are SSR owners and members alike who've stayed at SSR and would know for sure.

I stand corrected. Artist palate at SSR is a food court. It's the only one though of the DVC's though that has a food court as far as I know.

Soooo....sorry about that. Open mouth, insert foot:rolleyes1

That's all well and good if you have a kitchen. But what if you are staying at BWI...and doesn't Y/BC have some 'regular' rooms, not just DVC? Sometimes you just don't feel like cooking and only want something quick.

We did not like the Food and Fun Center at CR. Not much selection, not even real oatmeal for breakfast, only instant. The atmosphere was too hectic for us. AKL has a much better food court.

i think the one at WL is called roaring forks....it's only so so....very little selection...
i can't remember what the AKL's is called....you go outside (as though you're going to the pool, turn left and it's there...)...
it also has only a so so selection...

at the GF it's called gasparillo's and we thought it had an excellent selection.....we loved their baked potatoes....and the soft serve yogurt....it's an individual thing, but the selection there was good for us...and the people who work there were as nice as can be...

no the YC/BC do not have anything like this....there is a hamburger/ ice cream joint, but nothing like a snackbar/food court......a major shortcoming in our opinion....

I've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian and both were quick walks to the food court. At the Polynesian, I was in the Tokelau building, which was a quick walk to the main pool, main building and the food court. At the Wilderness Lodge, I was in room 5032, which was near the elevators that are closest to the food court. Each morning I would fill my mug up, then throw it in a Ziplock Bag afterwards. On my way back to my room for an afternoon break, I'd fill it up again, then again on my way back to my room at night.

Yes;) YC & BC certainly do have 'regular' rooms - they existed long before BCV's was even built. I was speaking strickly of the DVC's and in this case speaking of SSR which is only DVC (meaning not attatched to a regular WDW resort like VWL is attatched to WL,etc.) ~ OKW does not have a food court either and when I questioned the same thing years ago when we first bought into DVC, what about for those of us who do not cook? the answer given me from my guide (sales rep) was that the home away from home's are really meant to kind of be just that ~ more of a HAFH/timeshare rather than more like a hotel even though they technically are. Basically I was told we could always still eat out and not have to cook (parks, other resorts or whatever) but that was why no food court:rolleyes: Now, I asked this yrs ago when we first bought and $$ was not nearly as much of a factor as it is now ~ now we actually do cook half the time but....that was their answer way back when. I do personnally feel that they've realized that many people who've bought into DVC just do not want to cook when on vacation though ~ but they also realize just as many do. Maybe that's why SSR being it's own DVC has been built and a food court has finally been included?!:confused3 :scratchin I do agree though, Y&B definetly is lacking in choices for quick serve particularly for breakfast. Which is really a drawback if staying at YC or BC (the regualr hotel portion) :(

As for those who do stay DVC though, that's part of the beauty of having the kitchen or kitchenette. Many of us eat quick breakfasts in the room that you really don't have to cook ~ cereal, english muffins, bagels, etc.

Anyway, back to the original subject at hand

,as I mentioned earlier, I found there is a food court in the newly built SSR so "hurray for us all" cooking or not;) :teeth:

Related question...does the food court at AKL sell things like cartons of milk, bananas or small boxes of cereal?

Our flight doesn't even get in until around midnight and I really don't want to drag the kids through the supermarket at that time of night so I"m hoping we can just fill in on breakfast stuff the next morning.

yep to all 3 vasoccermom, just got back yesterday. Have a great trip! it's a beautiful resort, and don't forget to request turndown service, its free to all guest regardless of room location!:)

Thanks Dawnflower!!! Welcome home.

Could you post a trip report? I noticed about a month ago you were asking a lot of the same questions as me so I'd love to hear about your actual trip now. It might help give me some ideas for our upcoming visit!

Thanks,
karen

Cookie Princess - you can grab a quick breakfast at any of the Magic Kingdom Deluxe resorts. They each have some type of reasonable quick food option. I just wouldn't consider them a "food court" per say. To me a food court is a building that has various food stations offering an array of selections (ex: bakery, chicken station, pasta station, salad station etc.). True "food courts" are only at the value and moderate resorts. I'm sure we're really confusing you now.
