Food aside, how bad is Tony's?

We are there on Sunday before the Xmas party (canceled our BOG due to party constraints). I can’t speak of kosher, but my DD20 and I ordered 4 appetizers and loved them! Stephen our server was amazing and my Daughter is still raving about the calamari.

Service and food was spot on. Just my two cents.

Just get something without red sauce.....like a cream based sauce or a meat dish!

The kosher meals are pre-packaged and brought in from outside WDW to keep them kosher, and it’s the same meals at all the restaurants. Anything prepared by Tony’s would not actually be kosher so they wouldn’t be ordering off the menu. That’s why the food doesn’t matter to them - because any restaurant they go it will be the exact same pre-packaged kosher food. I had no idea about this until I ran across a post about it a while ago.

OP - The atmosphere at Tony’s isn’t my favorite. It feels chaotic like a character meal without the characters if that makes sense. And you likely wouldn’t see any of the parade from there.

Do they still offer the FoF reserved viewing package? I did this in August and was quite pleased with the atmosphere, service and reserved viewing. The restaurant was relaxing and my server was friendly and attentive.

For anyone ordering off the standard menu, I had the Caesar salad, shrimp scampi and tiramisu and it was all fine. I definitely enjoyed it more than a very similar meal at Mama Melrose earlier in the week. The Tony's dessert was one of my favorites of the trip.

WDW doesn't have a kosher kitchen, so they have to get a contractor to provide the meals.

Yes it's still offered. The GF and I are doing this in 3 weeks when we go.

If you take the food out of it, there's not a great deal of theming. you might get a table with a view of the parade, but not likely. If you do, there still will be people standing in front of you on the sidewalks most likely.
Another vote to avoid anything with the red sauce. I've read that they changed the sauce and its better than it was. Can't confirm as we haven't been there in 2 years, and I refuse to go back. Much better options are available.

I wasnt commenting on Kosher.....my comment was on the food in general.

Sorry, I thought you didn’t understand the question. The OP asked for opinions on everything except the food since it’s irrelevant and you responded and told them to order dishes with a cream sauce or a meat dish (which they cannot do since they will have pre-packed kosher meals.) Just wanted to clarify why they could not do that. No biggie.

OP, how did you end up liking it? DH and I had a meal at Tony's last year and got kosher meals. The chef came out to talk to us and they were very nice. My salmon was gross, but the bread, soup and dessert were edible for prepackaged frozen meals. We were seated by the window and were able to watch the parade while we ate. We thought the restaurant was nice, but, yes, kinda busy and noisy.

We ate there a few years ago, and enjoyed it. The food wasn't mind blowing, but it wasn't terrible either. Service was great, and the inside theming is pretty (Love Lady & the Tramp!). I wouldn't be opposed to going there again.

I think there is an outside porch they let the restaurant patrons stand on for the parade.

We've done Tony's a few times. The kids love it and we don't hate it. I see a lot of people saying it sucks but that has never been the case for us. The food is just fine but watching the parade from the window is a bad reason to eat there. Not a good, clear view. There is the package with dining and prefered seating for the parade. That's what we always do.

They just sat us on the porch without us even asking. We reserved a last minute adr and that’s where we were seated

It was an ok experience. 2 of us had beef, one had chicken breast and 2 had pizza. We skipped the soup but had dessert. The beef and chicken were really quite good for frozen food, though I found the prices a bit high. They took a very, very long time to bring out our food (they said they were only expecting 3 of us, which is ridiculous ADR was always for 5). They have my husband a free drink for our long wait, which was not sufficient I think. We waited over an hour for our food.

we have an ADR at Tony's for 2:20 pm. My thinking was that it would give us a great view of the parade. We keep kosher, therefore our meals are basically pre-selected TV dinners. So the food is irrelevant to us. I know the restaurant is considered pretty bad, but the question is - if the food wasn't an issue, would it still be awful?
No, the atmosphere is fine! I'm not sure if you'll be able to see the parade from in there

We've only made it to Tony's once, but we had a good experience. We were early for our ADR, so I watched a bit of the parade from the lobby window/porch while we were waiting, and DH and DS fell asleep in the lobby. :faint: (They joke that it was the most comfortable wait on the trip.)

We were seated inside, and found it to be a nice quiet place to take a break from the heat and sun. I liked the Lady & the Tramp stuff, and while I don't remember anything remarkable about the food, I also didn't understand the hate. I certainly didn't leave hungry.

The only thing I noticed (when we exited through the glassed-in area) was that it seemed a bit louder and busier out there. I think I liked sitting inside.
