I have been thinking about going to the Food and Wine Festival for the first time, Sept. 30th through Oct. 3rd.
Is it terribly crowded at that time? Will I have to stand in line for a half hour to get a glass of wine or some food?
Thanks!

You could encounter some long lines, but for the most part we've found it a very pleasant time to travel to WDW, with very little wait. The Food and Wine Festival is a lot of fun and something I would highly recommend attending. ::MinnieMo

Hi!
I agree with missmimmiemouse that the festival is a wonderful experience not to be missed! My husband and I went over to the festival quite often last year and found the lines to be longest during lunch and dinner times. Of course, we went on the weekend so we had 20- 30 minute waits a few times to sample the yummy food. It seems they added a few more countries ( Australia, South Africa and the Piedmont region in Italy to name a few) which seemed to help the lines not be so long. The wine and beer lines were ALWAYS long but then again, we were there on Saturdays. Some countries we walked right up to, so don't be disouraged about going on the weekend. Just be prepared for some longer wait times. Hope this helps- happy eating and see you there!

Yeah, the Food and Wine Festival is a wonderful time to visit Epcot, although I surmise that opening weekend might be a bit more crowded than the middle of the festival (the last weekend is DEFINITELY crowded.) Here's a few tips though:

The longest lines tend to be at Ireland (Guinness, Stew, Corned Beef, Flan), Canada (Salmon, Fudge, Icewine), and Australia (Shrimp, Lamb, Fosters). If there do seem to be long lines on your first day, get there either right at 11am on the next day and walk around to hit those three quickly, then do the others, or wait until around 2:30-4PM when people are between lunch and dinner, and the sun is beating down pretty heavily, for the lines to shorten. France is *sometimes* long, but generally only at the really busy times. The real key is planning, though.

Get a program at the gates (or at your hotel) and check out the food offerings at each kiosk. If there is something that interests you, classify which type of thing that is. All of the permanent countries have places where you can buy beer/wine on its own, and also counter service places where you can get desserts. For example, if you already know you like German knockwurst, there is a stand in the area underneath the clock. And if you like German wines, there is a wine shop on the left of the pavillion, toward the back. That can save a lot of time during the busiest times of the day.

A little bit of planning makes a fun trip even better ;)

We went to the Food and Wine Festival last year on the first day it opened and there weren't any lines at any of the booths during the day. The evening was a different story! I love the Food and Wine Festival, I wish they always have it in Epcot. My favorite is the apple strudel in Germany and the chorizo tacos or quesadillas (I can't remember which one it was) in Mexico. Have a good time!! We'll be there Oct. 22-29 for our 5th anniversary

I'm so happy to be reading this since we are planning a trip for late September early Oct. I was concerned about the crowds with the food and wine festival.
